GM Game #2 Part 2

Commishioners:
Hollywood Cannon
T_Cage
IslesRock4

Basic Rundown:
-There will be 30 GMs, 1 for each team. There will be 1 agent for Eastern conference RFA’s, and 1 for Western Conference RFA’s. We ask that you do not sign up if you do not plan on being at least somewhat active.

-The time that this game hypothetically takes place in is the trade deadline of the 2009-2010 season. After the deadline has “passed”, we will vote on playoff seeding, as well as the winners of each playoff round until we get a Stanley Cup winner. After the Stanley Cup voting, we will have an off-season, complete with Free Agency, the draft, and more trades.

-Before the 2010 UFA starts, we will need 4 volunteers to be agents for UFA’s. This is an important and fun part of the game if anyone is interested in playing, but not willing to forfeit much of their valuable time.

Salary Cap:
-The salary cap for the trade deadline until the end of the playoff voting is going to be $56.8M

-We will be using capgeek.com to find our players pro-rated cap hits.

******EXTREMELY IMPORTANT******
We will be using pro-rated cap hits for this game. There are many different ways to do this, but this is the easiest way:

1) Find the player's Daily Cap Hit on CapGeek.
2) Multiply said players daily salary by 40 (The # of days remaining in the season at the trade deadline)
3) Subtract this # from the player's total cap hit and allow this # to continue to count against your cap total
4) For any player you are acquiring, use this same method (Daily cap Hit*40) and this is the pro-rated cap hit of your new player.

This will make the game more realistic and add a new dimension to these types of games.

-It could get complicated for some, so PM a commishioner if you have any questions or if you need the caculations to be made for you.
-The commishioners will be responsible for double-checking everyone’s numbers for this.
-The salary cap for the 2010-2011 season will be $57M

Waivers/Buyouts:
-There will be a separate thread to keep track of waivers and/or buyouts.
-Only 1 veteran per team will be able to be sent to the minors due to cap reasons and only 1 buyout will be allowed per team.
-The lowest team in the standings in real life gets highest waiver wire priority.

Trades:
-All trades must be sent to IslesRock4 and T_Cage or else they are not valid.
-Once a trade is agreed upon, send it in BEFORE POSTING, and then you can announce it in the thread.
-ALL MOVES MUST BE SOMEWHAT REALISTIC. Washington will not trade Ovechkin, Pittsburgh will not trade Crosby, etc. The commishioners hold the power to veto any ridiculous trades.
-A trade involving a NTC or NMC must be approved by BOTH commishioners prior to posting. Keep in mind it will only be on a rare occasion that a NTC or NMC is waived.
-If there are any qualms about the trade, the trade will be sent to the trade committee where it will be voted on.

HC can use this post for UFAs since he's too lazy to reserve a post of his own.

FYI, if you want to sign a 2009 or 2010 draft pick, follow this formula:

1st - $3,750,000
2nd - $3,500,000
3rd - $3,400,000
4th - $3,250,000
5th - $3,000,000
6th - $2,250,000
7th - $2,000,000
8th - $1,750,000
9th - $1,750,000
10th - $1,750,000
11th - $1,500,000
12th - $1,250,000
13th through 20th - $1,000,000
21st through 61st - $900,000

EXAMPLE:
Taylor Hall (1st overall 2010) signs a 3 year ELC worth $3.75 million/year.
Alex Chiasson (2009 2nd round pick) would sign a 3 year ELC worth $900,000/year.

If you want to sign a player drafted before 2009 or players drafted after the 2nd round in 2009, you have to PM me. If you want detailed contract information for a 2009 or 2010 1st/2nd round pick, PM me.

UFAs

Slava Kozlov : He received interest from the KHL but his priority is to stay in the NHL. Once again, he had a major role in the regular season success of the Atlanta Thrashers. He is the ideal second line forward and he can play in every situations. Kozlov is a very solid and underrated veteran and he is looking for a team where he could end his career.

Matt Cullen: He is looking for a team where he would have a big role. Another guy that can play in every situations.

Fredrik Modin: He wants a place where he would have his shot on the second line. He is still a valuable goal scorer and he would consider third line minutes if he knows that he will get his chance to play on the second line at some point. He is looking for a one or two year(s) deal.

Brad May: He is seriously considering retirement at the moment unless a contender gives him a call. Money isn’t a factor.

Derek Boogard: He is one of the best enforcer in the league and he is a good hockey player considering his role. He is looking for a long-term deal.

Henrik Tallinder: His carreer was resurrected last year when he played with Myers in Buffalo. Some said that Myers made him look better but the young defenseman said himself that Tallinder was a major part of his quick development last year.

Dennis Seidenberg: He is already in discussions with a team and a deal could be reached really soon. Seidenberg is a very valuable defenseman.

Lukas Krajicek: He is looking for a chance to prove that he is a better defenseman than he was the past few years. In his first years in the NHL, a lot of scouts were high on him and he wants to show that he can play up to the expectations.

PM!

Note: HC gave me Eric Nystrom but he gave him to RR too. Since RR already has an offer on the table for Nystrom, he can keep him.

The New York Rangers are currently looking to trade right winger Ales Kotalik. We will trade him for the best pick/prospect possible.

We will also listen to other offers. Even if there are several players that I'm not looking to trade, my real untouchables are Henrik Lundqvist, Marian Gaborik and Marc Staal. Every other players are available for the right deal.

PM!

2010 2011

Pekka Rinne Picks Dallas. Signs for 5 years.

5 years for $22.5 million ($4.5 million/year), Year 1-2: $3.5 million, Year 3: $4.5 million, Year 4-5: $5.5 million

The Dallas Stars are proud to introduce Pekka Rinne as the new starting goaltender. He's big, he can handle the puck, and he wins games. Dallas committed a large salary to Rinne, but Joe Nieuwendyk felt like signing him to a short term deal would strap the team for cash when he was commanding top dollar.

Carolina Hurricanes News:

The team has signed first round selection Tyler Seguin to a contract. The deal is 3 years and will pay him a total of $3.5 million if he hits all his bonuses.

In other news the team is shopping Tuomo Ruutu, Joni Pitkanen, Jussi Jokinen, Sergei Samsonov and Michael Ryder along with picks and prospects. Looking for a top-pairing defenceman who can move the puck.

Stempniaksen's Sports Agency:

Joe Corvo, Carlo Caliacovo, Lee Stempniak, Paul Mara and Owen Nolan have all received interest and could be signed before 5PM EST.

Kariya, Demitra, Morrison and Morris have yet to receive any interest, so get your offers in on these guys. Most are going for fairly cheap prices.

Thanks for the offer . Pitt's Best already stepped up to take him.

Reminder folks, the RFA compensation chart (I'm using the 2009 one, since we wont know the 2010 one until June):

$994,433 or below = None
$994,433 to $1,506,717 = 3rd Round Pick
$1,506,717 to $3,013,433 = 2nd Round Pick
$3,013,433 to $4,520,150 = 1st, 3rd
$4,520,150 to $6,026,867 = 1st, 2nd, 3rd
$6,026,867 to $7,533,584 = (2) 1st, 2nd, 3rd
$7,533,584 or above = (4) 1st Round Picks

Carolina needs to shed a bit of salary, so Michael Ryder is available for semi cheap. Looking for picks and prospects, but would also consider a bottom pairing dman who can move the puck (salary must not be more than 1.5 million).

UPDATES:

Ladd- 3 offers, will likely decide tonight, so get yor final pitches in. 2.5M seems to be the current market rate
Clutterbuck- 2 offers, going rate about 1M
Brule- 2 offers, going rate about 1.5M
Harding- 2 offers. Might sign soon as the market has been soft. 2M+ will get you in the discussion
Franson- 1 offer. Surprised how nobody seems to want a young NHL defensemen with Top 2/3 potential. He was insulted at first with this offer but may be more receptive to it given the recent freeze-out..

Stepping out, back in 2-ish hrs...

Does anyone want Draper? Doesn't really fit with the plans anymore, he'd be really cheap. Still a good 4th line center for a team with cap space.

Vancouver has about 3 positions to fill on the team, (1 major hole at #2-3 Dman, and then #4 C, and #5-6 d-man) and about 6 M to work with. We're open to trading goaltender Cory Schneider. I'm shocked at the lack of interest in him as he has shown in the 09-10 he's matured and is able to step in and play well during an NHL game. He's tearing up the AHL and needs a chance. We'd rather move him then have him play 10-15 games behind Bobby Lou.
