Clarke is getting the last laugh

After Hitch and Clarke were jettisoned, Homer looked like a genuis. Maybe he was living off of the seeds Clarke planted.

I tell you this, Clarke was a better GM in his worse years than Homer is today!

Bring back Bobby!

If the league wasn't pansified then Clarke would be better.

last time i checked clarkie was still in the building. Snider and his fingerprints all over these recent moves. Trading picks for stiffs. signing crazy deals. Having crappy goalies all are staples of Clarkie teams. Homer is just the stooge who will take the fall.

He never actually looked like a genius, but some fans starved for hope in a dismal season called him that. But what did he really do? Got a bunch for Forsberg, it would be hard not to, and traded a vet D-man to a playoff bound team for a guy that that team really didn't need (or maybe even want). Spent too much, traded almost every asset he acquired to spend more and give everyone the ability to screw the team over in the form of NMC/NTC clauses. He was/is/will always be an idiot.

If I'm not mistaken, the 2006 off-season was credited mainly to Holmgren. Clarke cited his "burn-out" and alluded to many of those decisions to trade for Kyle Calder and bring in Geoff Sanderson and Nolan Baumgartner to Paul Holmgren -- something many including myself forget at times.

Good GOD, NO!!!!!

I have hated Clarke since he became a GM. Some former players just arent meant to go that high in the organization. Same with coaches. Look at Glen Sather.

But on the Clarke issue, no way in hell I want him back.

yea maybe.

I was just pointing out that Hextall is affirmatively not with the organization anymore.

Sather was an excellent GM on a budget in Edmonton.

What Sather's career shows you is that money corrupts decision making.

I don't know what the real story is there, but if that is true then he certainly started putting the kibosh on this team before taking it over formally.

we need to get away from hiring former players from the flyers organization, it's clearly not working

Obviously. They also need to get away from the Leafs mentality of trying to win at all costs. Building through free agency rarely brings success. The best organizations build through drafting.
