He'll probably get paid on his apparent potential this summer too, but I just don't see it. It's hilarious that Oilers fans were saying that he'd score 30 goals this year after the trade was vetoed. Right now, they'd probably be ecstatic if he hit 30 points period.
I agree.. I don't see him being more then a third line center

I wouldn't mind seeing this:
Foligno-Fisher-Kovalev
Michalek-Winch-Alfie
Ruutu-Kelly-Cheechoo
Regin-Hennessy-Shannon

Fisher will have to step up and continue to produce as the #1 center. Winch gets teh call on the 2nd line as he's good on the dot and he's been playing pretty good. If nothing else he can win some faceoffs and we can atleast have some possession of the puck.

In any case, this is all extremely hypothetical. Personally, I think a rejuvenated Cogliano could do quite well centering 2 talents like Michalek & Alfredsson. That being said, I've been wrong before as I stated in my earlier post.
I wouldn't trade either of Winchester or Regin for Cogs, Winchester is solid defensively, physical, and is a machine on the boards, an ideal 3rd line centre, and Regin has size and two-way play on Cogliano. Cogliano's entire game is scoring, and it's been declining for 2 years now. I'd trade Kelly for him, but thats just because of his contract.

Keep Regin as center.

Switch the centers please

I think Michalek-Regin-Alfredsson would work well.

Wow, this had to happen when we have 20 games condensed in the next six weeks. Well, hopefully Fisher can keep the hot streak going a little longer, and we'll need Leclaire and Elliott to really step up. This might kill our chances at the Northeast, but who knows since Buffalo and Boston aren't all that great.

I think that I want to see this team without Spezza before I panic...

Obviously a blow to this team but maybe someone like Regin can step it up.

Regin has done everything right so far this season in my opinion. He is hitting, dumping the puck and he has a nice set of hands, I'm definitely a fan after watching him since the start of the season.

remember our season last time Spezza got injured in December/January

Enter Chris ****ing Kelly :p

on a serious note this could be a bad week for the Sens, we lose to the Laughs, Spezza out longterm and Cowen might not make team canada

That was probably the most productive stretch of Kelly's career. I can't believe I'm saying this but I guess it would be worth another shot.

Cowen might not make team Canada? What?

He may have not been one of the early guys who made it, but considering that he's looked really good out on the ice I think he has more of an outside of chance of not making it than the other way around.

I think Cowen has basically made the team.

i dunno i have been listening to guys like Mackenzie and we know that

Teubert, Pietrangelo, Ellis are locks

now according to Bob Mackenzie he believes that the next two front runners are De Haan and Olsen BECAUSE they played in the u18 last year and they were the top shutdown pairing for Canada. he also stated that HC likes to stay loyal to past participants

so if those guys have the inside track then there is one spot remaining, now i am thinking that will be Cowen's but there are a lot of guys fighting for that spot...

Cowen before Olsen and De Hann. I can't envision a scenario where either player takes his spot, barring an injury (knock on wood). They're both great players, of course, but Cowen is a notch above.

Marco Scandella has made the team. Ellis, Pietrangelo and Teubert are locks, so that leaves two spots. According to McKenzie, it's between Cowen, De Haan, Olsen, Cuma and Lalonde. I wouldn't be surprised if they go with De Haan and Olsen, because of how well they've played for Canada in the past.

Cowen has been playing with Hamonic. I could see them both making it and playing as a pairing.

Well in some cases when big guys go down, the rest of the team steps up and fills his role and overachieves. I can only hope we do the same.
