I like Saku, but for the sake of the locker room. Do not want.

You gotta take into consideration there new leadership in the room, when Saku comes back, does he concede to this new leadership or try to become a leader and split the room with players that liked him in his tenure vs those who are glad he's gone? Don't think everyone loved him or everyone hated him, there is definitely mixed groups in there.

It's a difficult decision, while I have no doubt he could help us on the ice, I don't trade for him due to potential locker room problems.

They didn't sign him in the summer because he wasn't part of the clubs future plans, now they should bring him back and give something up for him? No chance does this happen.

I love Koivu as much as the next guy, but hes gone, moved on, we need to too.

I don't think he would create any locker room issues...maybe this is why we haven't named a captain?

This. He'd loose his biggest aspect: his leadership. What he would be is a normal 2nd/ (on this team a 3rd) line center, and who knows if he would play good? Maybe he would be upset over not being a leader. I think he's done with Montreal, which is probably the best for everyone.

I was looking forward to the possibility of bringing him back for next year but with Plekanec to re-sign, and Price/Halak to re-sign... I'm not sure we're going to fit him in

To Chicago: Matt DAgostini + Jaroslav Halak
To Montreal: Dustin Byfuglien + Antti Niemi

Id like that very well! Byfuglien brings the kind of size and intimidating factor our team will need for the playoff, and Niemi is a capable back-up. If you feel Sanford or Desjardins are better/equally good you can bring in a pick (likely a third) instead.

Our lineup for playoff with this deal would be as such:

Andreï Kostitsyn - Tomas Plekanec - Mike Cammalleri
Benoit Pouliot - Scott Gomez - Brian Gionta
Sergeï Kostitsyn- Glen Metropolit - Dustin Byfuglien
Travis Moen - Maxim Lapierre - MA Bergeron

Andreï Markov - Jaroslav Spacek
Roman Hamrlik - Josh Gorges
Paul Mara - Hal Gill

Carey Price
Antti Niemi

extra bodies: Ryan O'Byrne, Max Pacioretty and Georges Laraque

needless to say I am very confident with this lineup... it has it all: size and sandpaper on each line (Kostitsyn, Pacioretty if needed, Moen, Byfuglien and Pouliot), playoff experience (Gomez, Gionta, Byfuglien, Moen, Bergeron, Spacek, Gill), skills (Plekanec, Kostitsyns, Gomez, Cammalleri) and secondary scoring (Metropolit, Gionta, Sergeï, Bergeron)

(on each line with Andreï K., Pouliot, Pacioretty, Byfuglien and moen)

The team would have to seriously think it has a shot to go far in the playoffs to do this. That means keeping Halak for the rest of the year as insurance. It also means trading for a rental dman like Zidlicky who can eat up 20+ minutes a game. I'm not sure the mindset is such that they'll give up the picks and prospects to salvage this season.

i personally wouldnt mind as long as he agreed to not be a captain or try and become the captain again. but honestly.. retiring this guys number would be awesome. Longest captain for the team, been with us his entire career till this season... I think he might be returning after a year or two.

I would take Koivu as 3rd line C for playoff run, you guys are nuts. He would be great with Patches & Moen.

If Koivu gets traded back to Montreal and is given 2-3 million to play #2/3 Center, why not?

Nah, he'll probably stay with Teemu in Anaheim, then play 1 year in Minnesota, then come back to Montréal to retire.

How about Laraque to the Hawks?

This is from a Chicago newspaper after yesterdays slugfest against St-Louis.

Is George Laraque available? How about George Parros or Derek Boogaard? Any enforcer?

Blackhawks fans might start begging general manager Stan Bowman to acquire another big tough guy -- like Laraque, Parros or Boogaard -- to help out Ben Eager after the Hawks' 6-3 victory against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday at the Scottrade Center.

After all, how many times can the Hawks afford to see their young captain, Jonathan Toews, drop his gloves like he did 44 seconds into the second period against Blues winger David Backes?

What could we get in return.

I don't think they need an overpaid enforcer on their cap.

I would just send him to Chicago for nothing back, but Chicago fans won't agree with this they're giving up too much
