Who has been our best player?

Ok, I got into an argument today with my brother...I said that Pronger has been our best player, and he said that he has just been "another guy" and that "we wouldnt be one of the worst teams in the league if we had a true shut down defenseman"...He then said that Carter has been our best player this year because he leads the team in points

So who do you guys think has been our best player?
Pronger?
Carter?
Carcillo?

On defense, Pronger. On offense, Briere. By the way, I can tell just from the way you explained the conversation that your friend is a moron. Pretty much every point he made screams "Roman Cechmanek is the Flyers greatest goalie of all time, just look at his stats!" or "Bobby Clarke was only average, he never even scored 40 goals!"

When it comes to hockey, ive never talked to someone who knows so much about the game...Hes usually good with this kind of stuff, but this time his reasoning is just off

The only thing he does that kind of makes me mad is he almost discredits Defensemen for not scoring goals...one of his arguments for calling Pronger what he did was that "one of the reasons we brought him in was to help on the powerplay, and we have one of the worst powerplays in the league"...he also used to despise Timonen because he didnt score goals and was considered an offensive defenseman

Briere's had a few games where he looked really good, but this myth about how awesome he's been is getting irritating. Everyone is bad right now.

I'm sure I'll take some flack for this but!.. On D I feel this most improved and most noticable player has been Parent. His body positioning and ability along the boards to come out of scrums with pucks is outstanding. He might not be our best all round defense player but over the last 10 games he has really shown me that he's able to play along the rails with amazing consistency.
Offense is difficult to pick out one player, as everyone has taken a step back but I'm gonna show some love for a guy that probably should have 7 goals not 3 and that's Arron Asham. A absoulete howizter for a shot (whether it be a slap or wrist) tough as nails, can skate and more often than not is in the right spot at the right time.
On many nights during this long skid, he has been without a doubt, hands down our most dangerous player.

On forward nobody has really stood out. Richie and Carter have gone cold and I have a hard time giving Briere the nod because of the massive number of stupid/lazy penalties he takes.

On defense, Pronger was strong to start, but has struggled lately. Carle has shown hes still just an average-above average d-man. Kimmo has been hurt, and its showed. So again nobody stands out here either.

Goalies, I think Boucher has been pretty good. Now obviously last night is going to inflate the numbers, but I'd have to say hes done the most for this team by stepping in for Emery and holding down the fort even with defensive breakdowns happening in front of him on a nightly basis.

Overall during the slump definitely Danny Briere. Boucher has been decent too.

Last night Carcillo played awesome.

Randy Jones. Because he did exactly what was expected of him while on this team. Nothing.

Guess that's what happens when you go from a struggling team to a dominating team.

I want Randy Jones to get deked out of his skates in Game 7 to lose the series.

thats the key....discussing how bad individual players have been is pointless cause you can pick on any of them.
