You're a total retard. Take off your homer glasses and stop sneering at everything that has a Maple Leafs on it

Toronto would be getting absolutely fleeced in that deal

Bingo

As a Leafs fan this doesn't interest me at all, and the more I think about it, it's a pretty ****** deal for the Flyers too.

Maybe one of the worst deals I've ever seen posted here, because usually even with the really ****** ones at least someone is winning. Not here.

This won't happen, because it's basicly

Toronto's 1st's [2010, 2011,] 2nd round pick (gone for nothing)
Kaberle
for
Pronger and Hartnell

haha this thread is funny. Toronto gets one proposal that low balls them and they act like it's the most ridiculous thing ever, yet I have seen many and far worse trade proposals from Leaf fans.

Ya but he has a 7 year contract that won't come off the books if he retires.

IMO, Progner has much less value since he signed that deal than before. He certainly has much less value than Philly fans think he does.

I agree. He clearly signed that deal with the intention of retiring in Philly. This is Pronger's last contract, so moving him will be complicated.

And lets forget about Kaberle going to Philly because he is not needed.
How about something like this:

To Toronto:
Carter
Parent

To Philly:
Toskala
Schenn
Grabovski
i think a trade around carter-schenn is doable with some tweaking however the leafs have no use for parent and as shocked as it is for me to say this the leafs need toskala right now.

im thinking something like:

carter + carle

for

schenn, white, grabs, stempniak

If the Leafs were to package Kessel and Kaberle together, there are only three players in the league I would be happy to see it be for.

I think we all know who they are.

It would take a rather severe head injury to Brian Burke to accept such a stupid deal. Why would we want Pronger's (Age/Contract) for Kabby who is much more affordable and a way better puck mover, and common Hartnell for Kessel, i don't even know where to start on how stupid that would be, Hartnell spends way too much time in the box and doesn't even come close the the skill level Kessel has.

Kessel+Kaberle for Malkin+7th!

Pitts get their replacement for Gonchar and an elite winger for Crosby!

Get'er done!

This is for fun...

Pronger + Hartnell = 41 points in 64 games combined.

Kaberle + Kessel = 51 points in 54 games.

Yes, I am a Leaf fan and I am not taking the OP seriously.

Pronger > Kessel
Pronger > Kaberle
Kaberle > Hartnel
Kessel > Hartnel

The difference in margin is likely a 1st or 2nd rounder.

No doubting the fact that Pronger and Hartnel are the kind of players Burke wants on his team, but Philly has Timmonin and therefore doesn't need Kaberle... and they've got guys like JVR and Brier and therefore don't need Kessel.

They need Pronger and Hartnel.

What about if we imagine their roles reversed? Pronger and Hartnell are Leafs, Kaberle and Kessel are Flyers. I think then, this deal would make more sense based on where these teams are in terms of age/competitiveness/style.

Pray tell... why would the Leafs do this? There is no particular reason for either team to do this, despite both teams' apparent suckage.

Also, I don't see Dallas trading Niskanen anytime soon.

Most definitely not. Kaberle is playing better, has a better contract, and is younger.

How could it possibly be debatable?

Where is Kessel's Stanley cup? (Ducks)
When did he carry a team to the finals? (Edmonton)
Where is his Hart trophy? (St. Louis)

Pronger is a winner no matter where he goes and the teams he plays on do well.

The Edmonton team he took to the finals wasn't stacked. They were expected to lose to the Wings, the Sharks and the Ducks but they overcame the odds because he's a vacuum cleaner in his own end. He plays great positional hockey. He's incredibly durable. He delivers bone-crushing hits which literally strike fear into the hearts of other players and... he's awesome offensively.

The only knock on Pronger is he does something dumb which gets him suspended for a game or two from time to time. But 29/30 games he's gold.
