If you can't beat the Blackhawks, you'd might as well beat the Blackhawks' faces.

I don't want to throw Murray under the bus but we can't score, not consistently anyway. There's a problem when you get shut out or score less then one goal a game...we have one good outburst every few weeks but other than that we can't produce.

Plain and simple either trade for players that fit Andy Murray's style or fire Andy Murray.Having a fast offensive team playing a defensive style of game isn't working.

It was a delight to watch an effective two-man forecheck tonight...unfortunately it was the guys in the red sweaters that employed it. Major kudos to Conklin, as we could've easily lost this game by seven or eight goals. How many uncontested shots from between the hash marks did he stop in the first two periods before Hossa's shot snuck through...five...seven...ten? Unbelievable performance.

After a pretty good start, the Blues fell into "too much respect" mode. Just laid back, let the 'Hawks take the play to us, and we were down the rabbit hole with no hope of digging out. I'm encouraged at some of the offensive chances we had, but yet again, none found the back of the net.

That game sure makes us look like pretenders in the West this year, eh?

Kinda glad I missed most of it, though I guess I saw enough to extrapolate.

I believe One or both of 2 things can turn this year around: 1) New coach- everything has already been said about this one. 2) Big Trade - Im not going to make proposals as there is a different thread already for that, but the Blues counted entirely upon 3 players to score and create offence (Boyes, Kariya, MacDonald) and they haven't consistently enough. One or two of these could be moved as part of a package to land a goal scorer.

Yeah it's pretty clear by that game how far the Hawks have come. Doesn't seem like all that long ago when Blues vs Hawks was the basement bash of the Central and Western Conference. Looking back, it seems the Hawks finally turned the corner and developed some offensive players from their system. It helps when they drafted Toews and Kane, but their team is very deep. They are no longer a team with a young defense and undertalented offense.

Which is a nice sneak preview of what's to come for the Blues.
