Terry Murray said today that Jack Johnson will miss tomorrow’s game and that Alec Martinez will be called up and likely will be in the lineup tomorrow. Murray said he hoped Jarret Stoll would be able to test his sore groin in tomorrow’s morning skate. Murray also said that Johnson should be able to return after the holiday break. More notes and quotes to come soon…
We are going to have quite the motley crew lineup for Thursday's game. LOL. This is almost comical. If Calgary doesn't win this one they should be embarrassed.
Anyone want to take a stab at line combos?

Makes an interesting call up. I would have thought they would call up VV up seeing how he is the better D-man. This would possibly mean they are putting Alec up for show as to raise his trade value perhaps?
Good lord, when will this injury bug go away? We are absolutely ravaged.
Too many games in too few days with not enough breaks for the guys to recharge with all the travel added in. It leads to fatigue which leads to injuries. Just imagine if Andy Murray were still here running full practices on every off day. Half the team would be on the IR.
We're basically seeing what happens when guys are pushed too hard. This compressed Olympic schedule is a nightmare. They'll have played 37 games in ~74 days after tomorrow. They'll have ~114 days to play the final 45. That's nuts.
I don't know why they call up another forward or at least sign a veteran NHL guy...Harrold nor Drewiske should be playing forward....get Clune or Holloway a shot or sign someone.
It's encouraging though that Murray expects JJ back after the break, and the fact that Stoll is testing the groin in the pre-game skate implies that he's not too far away. So he should be back after the break as well.
That means that we should see Stoll, Smyth and JJ on 12/26 against Phoenix.
From the sound of it, this was an injury that wasn't going to sideline Jack for long(maybe a couple games in a normal schedule). So rest him, give Martinez some more NHL time, then take your long break.
JJ and Smyth should be back after the break. Stoll soon after if his groin is well enough.
(on Jack Johnson’s prognosis…)
MURRAY: “After our break, we play a game on the 26th, Everything should be in pretty good shape by that time.”
(on whether Jarret Stoll might be able to play tomorrow…)
MURRAY: “I don’t know that right now. I’ll probably get a better idea after everyone is finished up here today (getting evaluated), how he’s feeling. I hope that he’s able to get on the ice for the morning skate tomorrow, and then it will probably be one of those game-day decisions, as we get closer to the start of the game.”
(on calling up Alec Martinez…)
MURRAY: “He will arrive here this evening and probably will be in the lineup tomorrow.”
To make room for Martinez, the Kings put Wayne Simmonds on injured reserve, basically a bookkeeping move to create a roster spot.
I'm surprised Jack Johnson is actually hurt. I was at the game in Edmonton last night and he did limp off in the first but was back in the second. I lost track of him for the third, but I assumed he was playing. Must just be a preventative rest for him tomorrow night.
The more things go the more the Kings turn into the Monarchs. On a side note, I saw the Monarchs signed Shawn Bates to a contract. I wonder if this means he might end up in LA yet?

The Kings would have to sign Bates for that to happen. I think it's just to replace the bodies that LA is taking from Manchester.
Weird that they would call up Alec with 6 D already on the roster and JJ to be back after the break.....fingers crossed Jones is sitting or playing forward and not whiskey.....
I think Alec was called up because he made the team after TC but got hurt game one and never really got a chance good to see him get that chance now....
Honestly if Stoll isn't 100% going into tomorrow why play him? Risk aggravating the injury?
Why not Voynov? I mean, I really am happy for Alec and glad that he has been called up, but quite frankly I saw enough of him at Frozen Fury - not to mention in his first game. I think that calling up Slava right now would be a nice reward for his hard work and kind of a reward for not getting to go to the WJC

maybe because 1. Martinez has senority, and 2. Voynov is leading the Monarchs defense in scoring.
they've lost Hickey and now Bagnall for a month...
