He is the player you would have expected him to be before the injuries damaged his reputation.

Great team player. Veteran leadership. Can skate with Ov or with Knuble. Has played the point on the PP when Green was out with great skill.

A steal at $1.5m. Maybe you can have him back after this season. He is playing well enough to price himself out of the Capitals salary structure. Though, he might stay for the chance at the cup that will come every year from here til he can't play anymore.

Bingo. And frankly, that's the absolute best case scenario the Caps could have hoped for when they signed him. What a great pickup for a bargain price.

Morrison is playing much like he did on the WCE, a workmanlike support player along side talented star wingers. He has shown the kind of endurance that he did during his long ironman streak, before the major injury from which he only recovered late last season, and that had been the only question fans had before the season started.

As a result, he's been an ideal fit at a great price. If he returns, it will be on a severe paycut, because he's earned a $3M or $3.5M deal by his play thus far. The Caps can probably afford only half that figure.

But how much of his great play has been a part of being a part of this line up?

Would he excel someplace else?

He has been skating mostly with Knuble, Fleischmann, Laich and Fehr. He has gotten some time with Semin and a little with Ovechkin. His numbers are not based on Ovechkin or Semin.

Keeping fingers crossed that Morrison will agree to take somewhat less money, in the 2.5-3M range to stay on the Caps. He just looks like the ideal guy to play 2nd line center and then slide into the 3rd line center role when one of the younger guys is ready.

Not too hopeful, I guess, but regardless -- he's sure given the Caps an awesome season for the money.

It's been about as close to a perfect set up for both the team and player. We needed his pre-injury talent and he needed a place to show it.

only bad part is we can't afford him now.

Wow, awesome that he's doing well with the Caps. I didn't know he was doing this good. I'm happy though, always like to see guys like him do well. It was awful to watch him in his last little while in Vancouver but I had a feeling he could rebound with a new team. It didn't work out in Dallas but clearly it's working with the Caps. Hopefully he stays there and ends his career on a good note.

Great signing thus far.

Perfect placeholder for Marcus Johansson, so hopefully they can sign him at a decent rate for another year or two after this season.

Nice highlight. Right up there with Johnny's goalie stick stretch save last season. But if its the last goal he scores this season, it aint worth a contract much less $3m.

I am impressed by him though

Yeah, I doubt the $3M is from WSH.

He was hampered by injuries in his last few seasons here which is a shame but he was a great little centre when he was younger. Good to see him doing well, theres obviously a lot of talent for him to work with though!
