NYR - Colorado

D John-Michael Liles (4.20)
F Marek Svatos (2.05)

F Chris Drury (7.05)
2010 or 2011 1st Round Pick

---

The Rangers
rid themselves of Drury and add almost three million dollars in cap space for the next two seasons. Liles will bring the offense Redden was expected to provide, while Svatos can be a reclamation project for the rest of the season.

The Avalanche re-acquire a fan favorite who could potentially be captain if Foote retires and hopefully can re-discover his game. If not, they're getting a 1st round pick out of it, though Liles might have been able to get a late 1st by himself.

from a CO perspective, it actually might work. It all depends on where the NYR first ends up as to whether either team would do it.

Hell No. I know we get two first rounders but,

Stastny - Duchene - RoR

better than anything with Drury.
Plus, NYR get fleeced too.

Its actually one first rounder.

If the Avs are giving up Liles and having to take on Drury can we atleast get one of Staal, Grachev, or McDonagh?

As of right now Drury might have the worst contract in the NHL.

Well I fail at reading.
Either way, I don't see how adding Drury makes the team better. We'd be adding a crippling contract, something that Avs fans complain so much about with Salei/Clark and to some extent Liles.

As for Staal or Grachev, might as well be asking NYR to take Clark off our hands as long as we send them Duchene too.

Not happening. Staal value is high to the Rangers as is Duchene to the Avs.
Gravy? Not sure, but its certainly not for this deal.

Don't want Drury back. Thanks but no thanks.

How about something around Liles for Girardi + salary dump?

Rangers are not going to move first rounders to get rid of Dreary. What in their recent past suggests they will?

As a Rangers fan, I say hell no because we can't afford to lose what seems to be a top ten draft pick in the up coming draft. But if I was an Avs fan, I say why not? It would accelerate your 'rebuild' because Avs would get the Rangers' top 10 pick(a long with their own somewhere in the late teens) and also a very good player in Chris Drury. Yes, Chris Drury is a very good player. He just has too much pressure on him in New York(among other things). I hate to throw out the phrase "change in scenery" but he would go to a franchise he is familiar with and behind a fan group that all appreciated him. Is he worth the 7 million? Absolutely not. But the Avs have the space to afford him for the next two and a half years. I can't see Drury not posting his usual 25 goal, 55 point season-while "doing the little things- all with a better cast with the Avs. Curious to see what you guys think.

If the first round pick from the Rangers is for 2011 you have yourself a deal.

Haha. No. They don't.

The Rangers will not be moving first round picks to dump a contract.

Well Drury could always play on LW , I would think about that trade for sure .

How about Drury + a first ( 2011)+ McDonagh ? For Liles and Svatos

Awful trades... I think some Avs fans need to forget Pre-Lockout Avs. Avs don't need Drury ESPECIALLY at the cost of Liles... No way Jose.

Rangers do not have to do that. Send himto the minors and eat the salary.

No need to pay someone premimum like a 1st rounder in any year.

Pass.

Drury has a NMC. You can't send him to the minors. You'd be stuck trading him somewhere he wanted to go.

I have a feeling that wouldn't be a problem considering the organization.

No thanks. I wouldn't even take Drury on re-entry at this point. Our center situation is set for a while with Stastny, Duchene, O'Reilly and on occasion Galiardi, don't need Drury eating up any of the kids' minutes, and the cap space necessary to re-sign them.

Drury also plays LW, and would be a good face-off man for the PK considering Colorado is one of the worst face-off teams in the NHL.

Also, Drury's contract ends in two years; Duchene and O'Reilly don't need to be re-signed for three, and Galiardi's contract ends the exact same time as Drury's.

Colorado management would not do this. Too much money, and the team is doing better than anyone could have imagined. I think they will trade Liles this season, but it will be for picks or a young winger.

I'd give them the 2011. Not the 2010.

Not a chance. I'd rather buy out the remainder of Dreary's contract than give up a first round pick.
