C-BUS' GF, GA, PP%, and PK% league rankings all look quite similar to TO's. The haven't been as hot over the last ten games, though.
Also, JC, just a suggestion, and not that I don't appreciate what you do(and I know you've been too busy to even be a regular poster beyond the GDTs, lately), but I think percentage of points earned is a much better way to determine standings than simple points earned. Teams have played different numbers of games. In my opinion, the Coyotes aren't in seventh place, they are in sixth. Colorado my have two more points, but they've played two extra games, so far. I just wish all media outlets would go with P% rather that points, until the end of the regular season.
Honestly, I just wish they'd do away with points, all together, and stop handing out loser points. W% should be the way to track standings during the regular season. It's the only way that makes any sense. Well, that's a different rant, all together.
Dave Strader said more than likely Bryz will sit this one out. Our back-up better not lay an egg tonight.
No smacking the refs either! Posted via Mobile Device
LaBarbera will probably get the start in this one. Hopefully Doan is pumped up because it is his 1000th game...congratulations to him and lets hope he can really get going now.
Barbs is starting tonight. Bryz has admitted he needs a mental break. 14 starts in a row is a lot for any goalie and Bryz has been phenominal. He has been a little less sharp the past 2 games so a rest is needed.
It's a long season and Barbs will need to play at least once every 6 to 8 games.
Tippett said in the press conference after the Sharks game that Bryz would get at least one night off this trip. The second game of a back-to-back is the obvious choice, plus the last game of the trip after tonight is the Ducks and I can't imagine sitting Bryz against a division foe and his former team. So, I would say it's close to 100 percent that Bryz sits tonight.
I don't have high expectations for this game. It's Coyotes' third roadtrip that included an eastern time zone game in just a little over a third of the season. Factor in back to back games, a moderately desparate Columbus team, and the emotion of playing last night in Ontario after all the stress of the off-season, and in front of the new probable owners. Add in that our MVP needs the night off, and it seems like a very tall order. I'd take a point right now. They looked exhausted in the third period last night.
Check out the GDT on the Columbus board. Wow...had no idea it was that bad there.
Yea...
It's a multi-layered problem. If the offense plays well, the defense sucks. If the defense plays well, the offensive sucks. If the skaters play well, the goalie sucks.
Lines have been juggled, practices have been optional, there is almost no chemistry what-so-ever. Passes to no one, turn-overs galore, stupid STUPID plays by most of the roster.
You can't pin it on one guy, or one pairing, or line, they've been taking turns playing like crap. This slide is far too reminiscent of years past (expect last year) for long term fans' liking.
Certainly for entertainment value, but for the good of the team I'd rather them go back to the system: last night while a fun win, looked to me like a total mess.

Well, there are two ways of looking at things here. Even though a team behind Colorado does have games in hand, and a superior points percentage, doesn't mean that team is guaranteed to win those games in hand. The benefit of the doubt is given to those with proven results.
Plus, the games played balances out in the end, which is really all that matters.
I'll put up some sort of playoff standings spotlight at around the 60 games played mark (assuming we're still in contention for a playoff spot). If I'm not too lazy, I'll try to include a point percentage column.
Is it safe to assume that if Barbs win tonight he will get the start on Monday night vs the BlueJackets?
No, it is not safe to assume. Strader mentioned last night that LaBarbera would probably get the start in this game. He said that the team has a schedule for goalie starts and pretty much sticks to that schedule. Unless LaBarbera is already on the schedule for the next game against Columbus, I would not expect him to get that start. I doubt he is scheduled to play that game.

Mueller can play in the game following our next regulation loss.

I agree that it isn't likely, but I'm concerned that Bryz has been playing too much. If the Coyotes make the playoffs, Bryz will need to be dominant, and I worry about what his energy level will be by then at this rate. I'd really, really like LaBarbera to justify more ice time for himself.
