34 | "To Catch a Predator" | NAS @ EDM | 7:30PM | PPV

Tonight you will witness a PPV exclusive investigation into just how well an NHL team responds to an angry coach.

Nashville Predators (20-11-3) at Edmonton Oilers (15-14-4)

Time: 7:30pm
TV: PPV
Radio: 630 CHED

I just came down to hang out, thatís all.
The Predators have staked a claim as one of the NHL's best teams, but they've been helped by a friendly schedule. That ends with Nashville's visit toRexall Place, which begins a stretch of six-in-seven on the road.

The Oilers came home Tuesday after winning five in a row on the road and allowed a late goal to defenseman Sean O'Donnell for a 3-2 loss to Los Angeles.

Why don't you take a seat?
Nashville forward Jordin Tootoo is out 3-4 weeks with a lower-body injury.

Edmonton is still without goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, whose back problems refuse to go away. They did get defenseman Denis Grebeshkov (knee) back against the Kings, but are also without forwards Mike Comrie, Fernando Pisani and Ales Hemsky, all of whom are out long-term.

What is going on in your mind?
"I haven't felt angry this year yet, but I am angry now about how we played. How could you like the result? We were the team that was supposed to be rested and fresh. I don't know if there is any excuse for being dumb."

"We don't shoot the puck, we stay out too long, we make bad changes, we do things that beat ourselves. It's hard not to be upset."

-Pat Quinn

Why'd you do it?
Nashville's Martin Erat has 10 goals and 6 assists in the Preds' last 17 games, and he scored his seventh goal in seven games Tuesday. Erat has a four-game point streak in Edmonton, recording 5 goals and 2 assists.

Ryan Potulny was one of the few Oilers who played well against Los Angeles; he set up the first goal and scored the second.

Man oh man, we need a win tonight. Not the Oilers so much as this forum. So much angst right now.

Preds are a heck of a hockey team, I think they play a much more structured, aggressive game than LA does. So the Oilers will need to be even better than they were on Monday.

Can't say I am looking forward to this one, the Preds have had our number for awhile now especially in our own building. However after the tongue lashing from Quinn I think the boys put in a better effort and win in a shootout.

Ethics question:

Is it wrong to get Predator-supplied tickets and wear my recently won hemsky signed oilers third jersey?

Friend of Tootoo perhaps? Anyone of the the Nashville players (i believe Smithson's also from around here?) that have family/friends in the Edmonton area?

Or the Preds are so desperate for attendance they've even started giving away tickets to away games.

They've had our number for a while?

I thought it was the other way around...I always remember us beating them and having actually success. Am I out to lunch on this one?

OT but good lord the Lemieux fanboys piss me off, so do the Xbox Gen posters who think Ovechkin would score over 200 goals a season in the '80s and how they all want to be compared to the '80s Oilers. HF is really going to the dogs.

Anyways the Predators have dominated the Oilers after the lockout, but after a 6-1 win in Nashville maybe this is changing. I still say we lose but get a charity point via shootout

Going into this home stand, I thought that it was very important to win the first game to set the tone for the rest of the segment. Do that, and I would have predicted a 3-1 record. Out of all the games, the L.A. one was the most winnable in my mind. Banged up team, coming off a tough game night before in Vancouver, Oilers well rested and healthy. Too bad they gassed it. Now however, I think we'll now go 1-3. Not sure if this is the game we win though. Hope I'm wrong about that record.

Tonight is a must-win.

Have to keep the momentum rolling from the road trip, make the LA game just a temporary "bump" in the road.

Well at least tootoo is out. We did hammer the Preds 6-1 last time so that is probably something that is sitting in the back of their minds. I suspect we have a solid effort tonight.

Hey its game day, time to switch up the head crushing isn't it?

I hope that the team can get over the fact that it is a PPV game against the Preds and put in some effort. The last PPV games against them have been beyond horrible.

Just a fun fact:

I was looking at the stats for the Oilers, and I noticed that at this point we only have one player in double digits in goalscoring. So I decided to check out what other teams also had just one double digit goal scorer at this point in the season:

Sabres
Bruins
Hawks
Wild
Canadiens
Rangers

Pretty surprising list there.

EDIT: Oh, and the Blues have NONE.

You think a win will change that? HA There was more angst on this board after the 5 game winning streak than at any other point this year, it's the HFOiler fan way.

I really don't have a feel for this game either way, who knows what'll happen, i give up trying to figure these guys out.
Either way, Lets Goilers

Let's ride the Oiler Crazy Train roller coaster back up, again.

I see them taking this game 4-1, banging the body, digging in the corners, winning whatever scraps may come, taking the one-on-one battles, and playing the superior game. Quinn's face will lose a shade or two of redness, and less steam will come from his ears. And this board will be singing praises once again of the Oilers' playoff chances.

Until the buzzer after Game #35. All aboard... hahahahaha!
