For the Olympics,
Come on lets be honest. Canada could probably send 10 teams to the Olympics. That said, for the Canadians that won't make Team Canada, why don't they just come over to some countries where they will get guaranteed playing time and a roster spot. I'm not opposed to naturalising some Canadians to my country's national team.

Marc Savard would look nice in a swiss uniform.

Any other people with me?

Or let Canada have 2 teams like the Western Canada and the Eastern Canada.

If they aren't going to use Eric Staal I think we could find a spot for him on Team USA.

Just sayin....

However, the States has seemingly lent us Tyler Myers. We can throw them a scrap or two again I'm sure.

I think Canada could have like an Ontario team which would dominate, a Quebec team and an Eastern and Western Canada team. Most of the Canadians are from Ontario.

Maybe the other teams would rather recruit from the 6 nations that finished ahead of Canada in the last Olympics?

That's the type of arogance that could lead us to 5th... hopefully the players/coaches are smarter than that.

PS. Just realized that the OP is not Canadian but regardless... we're in tough these olympics.

Let me know when Canada beats Switzerland, then we'll talk about Canada having two teams.

I think the point is that Canada is so deep that our A team and B team arent even that far off.
I mean lets assume this would be Canada's A team:

Nash -- Crosby -- Iginla
Marleau -- Thornton -- Heatley
St Louis -- Getzlaf -- Perry
Doan -- M Richards -- B. Richards
Sharp

Pronger -- Niedermayer
Kieth -- Seabrook
Weber -- Bouwmeester
Boyle

Our B team could look like this:
Cammalleri -- Peverley -- Penner
Toews -- Stamkos -- Bergeron
Horton -- Lecavalier -- E Staal
Smyth -- Zajac -- Fisher
Savard

Regher -- Burns
Beauchemin -- Doughty
Robidas -- Myers
Green

The point is that our B team could very well take out our a team. Guys like Peverley, Penner, Stamkos and Fisher have outplayed guys like M Richards, Iginal and Doan, but they get in for experience and past sucess.

The point is no European nation could ice a B team as good as ours. Heck here are guys that havent been listed yet:
Derek Roy, John Tavares, Jordan Staal, Brendan Morrow, jason Spezza, Mike Rebiero, Jeff Carter, Brooks Laich, Matt Stajan, James Neal, Pominville, Phaneuf.

I can honestly say that I would rather not play then play for the USA (The only realistic option for many players in question.) I imagine a lot of Canadians feel that way too.

Yes, we are about 100 Olympic "calibre" players deep, but only 20+ make the team, and those are the ones that matter.

Pominville too, I believe.

Canada has players who are going to get picked no matter what, so I think they don't have the same jump as a player who would be on the outside looking in most of the time would had he been chosen.

Didn't you hear? Canada has like, one medal in the last 15 years or something! Obviously they suck. And there's nothing wrong with a little trash talk from a bottom feeder.
