Besides, we've already seen it happen before, Hull, Trottier, etc. What I want is for Marc Savard to play for us. Can we take Rich Peverly? You won't mind?

Do you think the US gave Canada any of the following: Tyler Myers, Brandon Sutter, Brandon Kozun, Dylan Olsen or Adam Brown?

Based on your reasoning they did and you seem to have no qualms about them, nor do you seem to about guys like Owen Nolan or Dany Heatley either.

Forget the 'Canada should be able to field multiple teams' argument, that's been done too many times already. Rather, getting a little into the political side of thing, with the increased unification of Europe at what point do we stop talking about team Sweden, Finland, Czech, Slovakia, Switzerland, etc etc and just make a single team Europe? So rather than having the advantage in number of teams they'll have to leave a team or two of Olympic caliber players at home with no guarantee of winning a medal from Canada, US, or Russia.

How arrogant for a nation that hasn't won a medal in Olympic hockey since 2002, and has only won 1 gold medal in the past 58 years.

he's not saying they'll win gold, he's saying they could win B and C team gold. They'll be in tough for A team gold, but come on, they'd dominate a C team tournament.

With all due respect, I think (and by this I mean I'm 99% sure) that they were just kidding.

Stastny, Hull, etc probably feel about as Canadian as Heatley feels about being German, or Regehr being Brazilian.

Not sure on Fisher Catches Bass, but that's not the case with Running Riot. He does this all the time, troll and bait and then he leaves the thread.

The swiss are arrogant? Check out the nationality of the the thread starter.

And seriously, "1 gold medal in the past 58 years" is how you think Canada should be measured?

I am 100% sure, and I am quite sure other European posters here would agree with me, when I say NEVER! Let Quebec have their own team if they wish, I don't give a rats hiney (though that is the absolute opposite of what you're asking here, I know), but although EU has made political and financial unification reforms, and will continue to do so, the European countries will not be under one banner when it comes to sports

Swiss guy started the thread and NHL/other pro league players have only been able to play for the past 3 Olympics so anything before 98 none of the best countries could play their top players, not really a great measure of who the best hockey nation is.

And what does the number of medals Canada has won have to the number of hockey players Canada could potentially send to the Olympics? One could argue, convincingly, that team Canada simply brought the wrong set of NHL Canadian players to the Olympics in the years that they did not win. There are always many controversial decisions on who should and should not make the Olympic roster for Canada...

Didn't Paul Stastny play for the US so that he could play with his brother Yan?

Stastny is born to Slovakian parents in Canada and is now American.

Since we're throwing around generalities, let's generalize that the OP wants to do what the swiss do these days - if they can't compete, buy their way to a gold/trophey/championship.

See - it's wrong to lump a couple of daft posters into a whole nation. Yeah - we ALL think those arogant thoughts!

Make 2 Finnish teams. Share the wealth between both teams in terms of skill. Anyone can do it, but talent will get thinner and thinner(like no one wants to stomach, seeing Aki Berg on the ice )

Its not Cocky, its just saying that Canada has a **** load of players staying at home, who would make a tremendous team.

I think once the Olympic roster is out. A "B" team could be made and anyone can speculate how that said team, would give the Olympic team a run for its money.

Dude, ever heard of "United in diversity"? The diversity part being 100 times more important than the united part in this case.

None of those players would make Team Canada anyways so it doesn't matter.
