Richard Petiot

Will this kid be a top 4 dman? Possibly better then that? The kid has great height, and he uses it.

What do you guys think of him?

Petiot is underrated by most Non kings fans and a lot of Kings fans. The Knigs have a lot of faith in him and have him ranked higher than we do. Physical d-man, very good positional game and a very good skater. He had a very injuries last year but still put together a solid year. Expect to see him in Manchester this year
My guess is 3 or 4 d-man. Absolute highest a #2.

Is he kinda like Miller? Big, strong and can check, but not to great on his skates. Not Brad Norton bad, but ok skating wise.

Thats sounds all too good. I like it. people have to understand that the taller you are the harder it is to skate. So I always assume when a guy is taller then lets say 6'3, he might have skating and balancing problems. Good to hear though. Is Petiot 6'3 or 6'4? I've heard both.

KingJohn, how long do you think he will be in Manchester for? A year, maybe two years?

That's the hard part. It depends on him and depends on what is needed on the Kings. The Kings believe he is close to being NHL ready, so hopefully a year

I cant wait to see him play. It was rumored that the Kings were interested in signing him last year but held off because of the lockout.

I don't agree with this. I watched him play probably 4-5 games this year (and still have a couple more on tape, I think). He is a nice diamond in the rough and looks to have an NHL future, but I project him as a third pair guy who will be in Manchester for at least two years before coming up to the NHL. He is a physical defensive defenseman, but I think he is being overhyped on this board. Al Murray makes some nice remarks about him, and everyone blows them out of proportion. Aaron Miller is his ultimate UPSIDE, not where he is right now.

Just my opinion.

I think we will be extremely lucky if he becomes a similar player as Miller in the nhl, imo. Let's hope he's healthy first, can play well in the A, able to make the transition from the A to the Kings and the speed of the league. The kid is no lock.

Many of us in Manchester are anxiously awating the opportunity to meet Richard...

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, depends who you talk to) we don't have a coaching staff in Manchester at the moment, but I'm sure they'll find some guys in the next few weeks...

Hey bud, everyone is 100% behind him! My only point is that people were saying he's going to make the roster a lot sooner than is realistic, and that expectations were higher than they should be. Tell him we're all pulling for him, and to keep working hard. If he turns out to be Rob Blake, that will be awesome.

I have great expectations in Richard and I can't wait to see him with the Monarchs next season.

Think about this defensive pairing in a couple season: Gleason-Petiot
