OT - UFC Coming to Alberta?

http://www.tsn.ca/mma/story/?id=302851

Quote:
Ratner has been to Ottawa once already and is planning a second visit to Ontario in the next two months. He talks weekly to his provincial and federal lobbyists here and is also looking west.

"I've been talking to Edmonton, I've been talking to Calgary," he said.

"I think Alberta definitely is a possibility ... We're absolutely looking at it," he added. "We had a wonderful letter from the mayor of Edmonton inviting us to bring a show there. So there's a lot of positives."

I sure hope so. I would love to see UFC live and not have to pay a fortune to travel to see it.

I hope we can get a fight, I will be there for sure.

Awesome news!

Apologies for the sarcasm. It is a stereotype however.

That would be awesome and great for the city. Especially if you could get GSP on the card.

Then how come every time I go watch a fight thats all I see? Not only that they all think they are the toughest mothers on the block once the fight is done. Just cause you wear a shiny shirt doesnt mean you can throw a punch!

Can't answer for those people. If you see someone wearing GAP, that would be I.
But I do know the people you speak of and they drive me up the wall.

Late January-Early February and they'd be earning their pay.

It'd be funny to watch "Parka Boxing". Body shots would be ineffective. LOL

Except it's the guys in the clubs and bars who rock that ****. At the actual events those clowns are few and far between.

I used to wear Affliction before juiced-up bald-headed ********** started to. Now because of the douchiness that comes with wearing said brand, I haven't worn the clothes.

i think to wear those affliction or tap out t-shirts you have to be somewhat big or know how to fight a little..skinny teenie boppers who wear that stuff look extremely pathetic..

I do enjoy the UFC, but its true that the crowds it gathers are more annoying than wrestling fans. Wannabe gangsters and tough guys with fake tans are worse than mullet sporting red necks.

to be honest, i have met some awesome people when i go down to the fights in vegas or where ever.

Its always the same idiots, who even at the bars here, act like morons that sterotype it, and ruin it for all..

I would love a fight here, and i think they could even charge a bit higher prices to offset gates you would get in montreal or van and be ok. Edmonton has a large ufc following, hell, alberta and sask do, and i am sure it would sell out fast..

i hope they bring it here, i was at the first lesnar vs mir fight at mandalay bay and it was fantastic, the buzz was massive and seeing many, many fighters all over was great, but right now ufc is too watered down and just hasn't been been the past few ppvs although the penn vs sanchez one was great

Watered down or not most of the fights that the UFC has to offer are better then what is currently being shown in Edmonton. Fans go crazy about watching former UFC fighters and local fighters, how great would it be to see some fighters that actually are going somewhere in the near future?
