I was pretty pissed that Marty started the game.. made no sense at all. Then my brother, who had seen the game live said don't worry its worth it, or something like that so I started getting my hopes up that he scored or something.
Gotta love the scoring despite Zajac and Parise being cold.

With a better and more responsible defence in front of him, Pavelec could actually have decent stats. He's got good technical skills, for sure. But he gets hung out to dry too much by his defencemen joining the rush and giving up odd-man rushes the other way.

and it seems like they were somewhat okay with how the team played. that first period was probably one of the 5-10 worst I've ever seen, and the third period wasn't much better until the last 4 minutes. Kovalchuk's play in this game, on rewatch, is pretty much inexcusable, the 5th goal, he just gets stripped by the Dean and stands there. there is no contest between him and Ovechkin.
this game is alot like the 8-5 Rangers game, the score does not indicate how close the game was, it was a minor miracle the Devils did not score *six or seven* goals in the first period., it was a major miracle they didn't score four or five.
the Trashers were pathetic in this game, and the effort they put in on their limited chances proves how ****tily they played in the rest of it.

Kovalchuk doesn't backcheck, we've known that for years. But I agree, it's pretty ridiculous that he not only got stripped of the puck more than once, but also started getting frustrated. He looked more like a petulant child than an NHL captain.

Scary for the rest of the league! This team is just a well oiled machine right now, and can seemingly win a game any way right now, be it tight and low scoring, or wide open and offensive. And now the support scoring is coming in at a perfect time with our big guns slumping. Simply put, this team just finds ways to win, no matter who's playing. And the way these young guys are playing, and the way the prospects are all perfroming in the AHL and the lower levels, is it crazy to think that the best STILL might be yet to come? Downright giddy about this team right now!!!

the second goal was a breakaway, I'm not blaming the goalie for goals given up on breakaways, it's retarded.
and meanwhile, there's people here sucking Danis when he basically blocked some shots and just managed to stay out of disaster with glove flubs, pucks trickling through his pads and kicking rebounds out for one-timers.

Dunno what the hell you are talking about, I always stick up for Marty. I was pointing out that he was suffering the effects from last night. Everyone seem to have forgotten that he got freight trained last night. If you take a look at that video of him on the bench again he was turning his neck like there was a crink in it. I think that was the real reason why Lemaire pulled him and had nothing to do with him letting in the goals.
Ones that he normally stops. Any other goalie might flub that usually, but Marty doesn't normally miss those. Maybe one once in a while but not 3 like that. He was having some trouble tonight and you can see it.
this is what I'm talking about. all three of them were high quality. a breakaway, a chip shot on a puck that appeared to be in the air, and a one-timer from a guy with a monster shot.
