maybe everyone's retarded about their goalies. was looking through the ATL thread and people there are calling out Pavelec, when basically he was the only thing that kept us from winning 12-4.

Just watched the game on DVR. Jesus Christ Chico ripped Atlanta a new ******* throughout the game!

I was pretty pissed that Marty started the game.. made no sense at all. Then my brother, who had seen the game live said don't worry its worth it, or something like that so I started getting my hopes up that he scored or something.

Gotta love the scoring despite Zajac and Parise being cold.

And maybe more than that. Zajac could have had a hat trick in the first 5 minutes with a different goalie in net.

With a better and more responsible defence in front of him, Pavelec could actually have decent stats. He's got good technical skills, for sure. But he gets hung out to dry too much by his defencemen joining the rush and giving up odd-man rushes the other way.

and it seems like they were somewhat okay with how the team played. that first period was probably one of the 5-10 worst I've ever seen, and the third period wasn't much better until the last 4 minutes. Kovalchuk's play in this game, on rewatch, is pretty much inexcusable, the 5th goal, he just gets stripped by the Dean and stands there. there is no contest between him and Ovechkin.

this game is alot like the 8-5 Rangers game, the score does not indicate how close the game was, it was a minor miracle the Devils did not score *six or seven* goals in the first period., it was a major miracle they didn't score four or five.

the Trashers were pathetic in this game, and the effort they put in on their limited chances proves how ****tily they played in the rest of it.

edit: eh, never mind, I'm not fixing it, it describes their play better anyway

Kovalchuk doesn't backcheck, we've known that for years. But I agree, it's pretty ridiculous that he not only got stripped of the puck more than once, but also started getting frustrated. He looked more like a petulant child than an NHL captain.

Kovalchuk got all petulant when the Devils scored after HE WAS THE ONE WHO GAVE UP THE PUCK IN THE NEUTRAL ZONE! Honestly, what the ****?

We have the best record in the NHL and we haven't seen our best team iced yet this season
Scary for the rest of the league! This team is just a well oiled machine right now, and can seemingly win a game any way right now, be it tight and low scoring, or wide open and offensive. And now the support scoring is coming in at a perfect time with our big guns slumping. Simply put, this team just finds ways to win, no matter who's playing. And the way these young guys are playing, and the way the prospects are all perfroming in the AHL and the lower levels, is it crazy to think that the best STILL might be yet to come? Downright giddy about this team right now!!!

scoring chances: this is a work in progress

1) McAmmond misses open net on first shift
2) Langenbrunner walking in on a 3-1 where the D falls apart
a) Kozlov high circle
this is 4 minutes in, so the game hasn't fallen apart yet
3) Parise in front of net on PP
4) Elias in slot on PP
5) Rolston high circle on PP (miss)
6) Oduya side of net on PP
shot total is wrong in game
b) Hainsey wrister/chip slot (goal)
7) Zajac deep slot one-time

oh, **** you, MSG

8) Peters slot
9) Pandolfo side of net
10) Nieds side of net
11) Zajac (not shown)
12) Zajac (not shown)
13) Nieds wrister circle (goal)
14) Rolston side of net
15) Fraser slot
16) Rolston circle slapshot

official stats say 9 scoring chances Devils - 2 ATL at this point, they have one very wrong. 21 shots, this is also too low since I've discounted at least 7 shots that I've seen and missed 3 minutes.

c) Antropov breakaway (goal)

hey, Chico's pretty swift, it is around 5-1 in chances.

17) Rolston slapshot high circle

d) Kubina one-timer from point (goal)
(jesus, that is not a soft goal, it is a freaking one-timer)

and we're done.

17 chances to 4 in the first period.

estimated shots for the Devils are in the 27-28 range.

and that's missing 3 minutes, there's probably a scoring chance missing and I wouldnt be surprised if we got 30 shots in that period.

but, that's great, or "awesome" or whatever was said.

I understand some of you guys can't stand Marty for whatever reason, which is cool.
hopefully you guys get a Toskala-type as your next goalie and you see what bad is really all about
Dunno what the hell you are talking about, I always stick up for Marty. I was pointing out that he was suffering the effects from last night. Everyone seem to have forgotten that he got freight trained last night. If you take a look at that video of him on the bench again he was turning his neck like there was a crink in it. I think that was the real reason why Lemaire pulled him and had nothing to do with him letting in the goals.

this is what I'm talking about. all three of them were high quality. a breakaway, a chip shot on a puck that appeared to be in the air, and a one-timer from a guy with a monster shot.

lol, if Lemaire is telling the truth when he says he told Danis with 8 minutes left in the 1st that he was going in for the second, he was planning to pull Brodeur at 1-1.

how would you put that in the box score?

Brodeur - pulled after 1 period (lack of respect for opponent)

Sounds like we had a crazy game in Atlanta. I'm shocked.

Still ill, shame Zach is still scoreless.

Well, he got an assist on the first McAmmond goal, but it (quite obviously) just isn't the same.

Damn, either I'm up really freakin late or you're up really freakin early.

Or both.

I missed pretty much the entire game since I was attempting to have a Christmas party in a blizzard. I caught Dean's goal, which was badass, and that was all I remember.

Don't let cj see this, but Im drinking tea with honey and lemon right now. Sssssshhhhhh.

It is still damn cold out though. I've got a gig later (an all dayer) and my new experiment band, Paracore (a Paramore death metal parody), is on at 6. I'm going to die.

ROTFL. that's like a second level of parody because the original is a parody in itself
