Arnott questionable vs. VAN

Quote:
Just got off the phone with Predators coach Barry Trotz, who gave a status update on center Jason Arnott. Arnott missed Saturday’s win over Calgary with an upper-body injury.

Trotz said he expects Arnott to practice on Monday, but is currently listing the Preds’ captain as questionable for Tuesday’s game against Vancouver. He said he’ll see how Arnott feels after practice before taking another stab at Arnott’s availability against the Canucks.

If Arnott doesn’t play Tuesday, Trotz said he’ll definitely be in the lineup for the Dec. 26 home contest against Chicago.

Well, I'd rather him not be in if he doesn't feel 100%, but that sucks. Hopefully everybody will continue to play well.

Well... Spalding is getting his chance to shine. Almost wish Wilson, Santorelli, or O'Reilly were up here to take the place of Arnott. But if it worked in Calgary, why not Vancouver!

Come on Scatchard!

I think he'll play, unless his wife says no again.

I say sit him. Goc is hot, let him try one more game on the top line.

Sit him as many weeks as it takes if he's got head issues. Hopefully he can fully recover.

Does anyone know what his injury/symptoms are, and what happened to cause it?

I haven't seen any symptoms, most of us are just speculating because he's a pudding head.

Yes, he was pretty questionable vs. VAN.

Trotz says offense is throwing pucks at the net and that's what Arnott did.

From the high slot, where there are no bad men to hurt him.

The shots I saw him take were pretty weak. He was definitely not himself last night, at least not the good Arnott that leads the team in a good effort.

I wasn't defending Arnott's play. I was making fun of Trotz with his answer to everything being "put pucks on net and good things happen".

And Arnott, weakly, threw some rubber at the net.

I'm not going to start a new thread for this, but per Bryan Mullen with the TennRag, Smithson out with broken left hand injured during the VAN game. He's listed as out this weekend, but:

"I don't think it's going to be a day-to-day thing. He's being looked at right now and we will probably have an update (on Thursday). He will not play this weekend. He is being re-evaluated. I think it's a little bit more long term." ----so sayeth the lineup card chewing man behind the bench.

yikes. I thought they'd stick some small cast on him and put him back on the 4th line. I guess maybe not.

I also hope that Arnott doesnt waste a roster spot against The Blackhawks if he isnt really going to play anyway. He needs to get healed up instead of..well..whatever you call it that was going on against Vancouver.

So I guess now the question is, Olvecky, Thuresson, or Guite?

Thuresson has to be the recall, but the real question has to be who gets bumped up to the second line without sacrificing the lines shutdown capacity?

Spaling should be there, from his limited time he is a very good defensive player. Though Goc could be moved up as well and Spaling can center the 3rd line.

From what I have seen Spaling has been VERY responsible and played pretty well if not spectacularly whenever called upon. Solid player, not flashy.
