• Congratulations to Andy Murray, former St. Louis Blues coach, for making reference to off-ice behavioral issues for the young Blues players in his exit interviews, leading to a multi-page thread of comments on the Post-Dispatch Web site titled "Is there an Issue with the Young Blues Partying too much?" Perhaps they can call Mike Richards(notes) to see how to handle something like this.
This story from a St. Louis Blues/Chicago Blackhawks supporter about battling Cystic Fibrosis, a miraculous lung transplant and the pride of being a hockey fan is pretty much the most touching thing we're read this season. Get the Kleenex and then go hug a loved one. It's one of those. [St. Louis Game Time, via Thrashing The Blues]
-Jeremy Roenick(notes) told AM640 in Toronto yesterday that he's "baffled" about Team USA's inclusion of Chris Drury(notes) on their roster and would have liked to have seen St. Louis Blues youngster T.J. Oshie(notes) make the team: "I know he's a great leader and if he's captain of the team, he'll be a great captain, but I just don't see him being as good for the team as a guy like Gomez would be or T.J. Oshie. Oshie would bring so much energy to this team and this type of format in an international event, that I don't understand how those two guys aren't on the team." Audio of the interview can be found at the AM640 website. [CTV]

Can't someone photoshop a picture of Tkachuk with a bunch of missing teeth? This picture doesn't seem realistic at all.
I'm interested to see the "new Blues". I realize the systems will take a bit of time to internalize and fully implement...but I do expect to see 1) high energy from the players and 2) a more positive mentality. Just the few comments from practice, the players seem to be smiling more.
Now...I'm not sure how much you should be smiling when you're on a 5 game losing streak. But its a bit of a chicken and the egg thing. The positive attitude has to come first before the positive results. Getting down and frowny is probably not the recipe for success.
I look forward to seeing the Blues play what should be a more structured game tonight. Is is the sharks so there should be some physical play. What will intrigue me will be who is chosen by Payne to counter Thorton and Heatley. My guess is Backes will be a big contributor there.
I've got a BAD feeling about this. Hoping for the best, but expecting a high-energy, no-one-is-quite-sure-where-they're-supposed-to-be-but-working-hard-anyway, multi-goal loss. Hate catching the Sharks after they got whooped by the Kings their last time out.
Looking good so far. Blues are playing agressive and the Coach DP's lines are looking good and a nice change! And a lot less dump and chase (mostly just for linechanges), we're cycling the puck into the slot and back to D for big shots and beating Sharks to the puck!
dangerous turnovers. .but looks like they have gotten a better idea of what to do and are playing pretty well. a few players look they have so much energy in this game. berglund and amac have been everywhere
Berglund looks different and thats a really good thing.
Agreed, Berglund has been playing better than I've seen in a long time. In fact, the whole team looks much better overall. They've given up a lot of shots, but not many were very good quality chances. The Blues are doing a good job of keeping the Sharks from screening Mason, so he sees the shots the whole way.
