The Browns were also looking at Oakville Ontario for their latest free agent signing.

This guy is 320 and it looks like he doesn't have an ounce of fat! Not the best competition, of course, but there may be real promise there - he moves well, has long arms, and seems to have the desire to dominate his man. Hope the Browns managed to find a diamond in the rough.

Former hockey player, of course he's in shape

Apparently he's only played 6 football games. Will take a while to develop, but man it's good to have somebody like that in your back pocket and see how he develops.

Ernie Harwell, the longtime radio announcer for the Detroit Tigers, passed away today. As great as he was behind the microphone, he was an even better man. I will go to my own grave fondly remembering how as a kid I would listen to him on my transistor radio call games late into the night.

Thanks for the memories, Ernie. Goodbye, old friend.

RIP Ernie.

I knew him by reputation only. (My childhood radio voice was the late, great Bob Prince.)

Oh man, I grew up listening to Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey. Harwell was the absolute best radio broadcaster bar none.

I went to radio and TV broadcast school, and while mostly it was me throwing away 14,000 perfectly good dollar bills, the highlight was the one class session where Harwell was supposed to come in and speak. He wasn't feeling well that day, and instead of driving to Cleveland to teach our class, ended up doing it over the speakerphone.

In some ways, hearing his smooth voice come out of that box like it had come out of the radio for me for so many years, made it even more realistic.

The one thing I remember from that session he taught over the speakerphone was a lesson almost every broadcaster needs to learn. First he said he tried to give the score every minute, and then he said, the game is the most important thing. Yes you may have clever stories you want to tell, but people are tuning in because they want to know what is going on in the game, not to hear your stories. If you can't tell your story in the 10-15 seconds between pitches, it isn't a story that needs to be told.

He's easily top 5 most annoying people I've ever seen on television, but this was funny.

You could replace "Carmona", "Valbuena", "Branyan", "Peralta", with Tyutin, Klesla, Commodore, Nash and the whole thing is still true.

This is why i can't get upset at baseball. Play 162 games and if you play 5 or 6 bad ones, you can easily tear off 5 or 6 good ones and everybody forgets it.

I've been to all of the Crew games this season...

I'm wanting a jersey but I don't know whose jersey I want.

I've really liked the way Hejduk and Rogers play so I may get one of their jerseys. Are they popular players?

This is going to come back to bite the bengals. If you had to poll me on which players i would not want on this team, it would be Pacman then T.O.

This guy is going to cost the bengals some way, Goddell should've just banned him from the league...

I've gone back and forth wth this thought, as I am a huge Bengals fan. I think I am beginning to disagree, after completely agreeing. I really don't think he'll make the team out of training camp. The team has 2 future pro bowl DBs on the team already, plus a couple who played significant time last year, and a rookie who they are high on. There is too much depth already, and I don't think Jones will make the cut in August.

He's signed to the league minimum, so even if he does make the team, it's a small risk. At the first sign of trouble, it will be so easy to let him go. I think it's a small risk/high reward move. It worked out for the Bengals with Tank Johnson, maybe it will work again.

I don't really have a problem with this move. Yeah, Jones is a ********, but so are most pro athletes. The others are just better at covering up.

It'd be one thing if we were hearing talk of Pacman being a bad teammate, but to the best of my knowledge, that's never been thrown out by the media.

Report out of Kansas City has the Big ten making inital offers to:

Missouri

Nebraska

Rutgers

and...

Notre Dame.

I'm a bit confused why they would make offers to up it to 15 instead of even numbered 16, unless they are expecting Notre Dame to say no, and I highly doubt Nebraska would bolt on the Big Twelve.

Iowa State, Notre Dame and Pitt seem to make the most sense, geographically.

I believe that denials have been issued by all concerned.

really? Hadn't heard that...

Rutgers would be foolish to decline, then again, maybe they just don't want to be the first to jump ship on their conference.

From today's Dispatch:

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content...l.html?sid=101

Not denials on all fronts, though, just from the Big Ten, Big Twelve, and Nebraska.

Cool... seems strange that the "bogus" report originated from Kansas City...

So where is LeBron going to be playing next season?

horrible game last night from LeBron, could be his last game as Cav in Cleveland, with the impending Free Agency and all this offseason.

Not a big basketball fan, would be sad to see him go elsewhere though.

It would be nice to see him stay in Cleveland, but I'd be fine with him moving as long as it isn't to the Knicks.

The northeast media has acted for years like it was a foregone conclusion that he'd become a Knick (central argument boiling down to "we're NY why the hell wouldn't he want to play here???") so I hope that doesn't end up being the case. Any other city I'm indifferent too, but the Knicks, christ, that'll make the media and NY fans all the more insufferable.

Plus there is the personal pride of having argued against the logic of him becoming a Knick for years since 1) the Cavs by league rules can pay LBJ more to play basketball than any other team 2) how much more money in endorsements is he really going to make in the NY market? he's already the biggest basketball star on the planet without needing NYC's help and 3) the Knicks have been god-awful from an off court and on court point for several years.
