Who is our Best Player ?

Who is our best Player in your opinion?

You could make a case for any of these 5 guys I think; Kane, Toews, Keith, Hossa, and Seabrook.

Simple question, not so simple answer.

I'd say as far as most valuable in helping decide the outcome of games, it would be Kane. His playmaking ability is amazing.

As good as Kane is, if Hossa and Toews were the same age, would anyone here seriously not choose Hossa outside of intangibles? Toews is slightly less talented offensively then Hossa and close to even defensively. Both aren't too far behind Kane offensively, and miles ahead defensively. To me it comes down to Hossa or Keith.

It depends on the definition of "best"

For me, I think it means most important. The player I think we need most in our line-up in Toews.

Toews is more than "slightly" less talented than Hossa.

Kane is better than both of them anyways.

The answer to this question, though, is Keith.

Offensively? Yes. As a total package, Hossa is our best forward and I'll take Toews over Kane.

I'll take Kane over Toews, because I think noone is better in creating plays than Kane. He's always keeping the opposition guessing.

I think the player we could least afford to lose for a long period of time would be Keith, because we don't really have any other true speedster that could be moved to the 1st defensive pairing without disrupting the entire defensive set-up. We have plenty of forward depth to absorb the shock of losing Kane, Toews, or Hossa.

The leader, the hardest worker on the team, the guy with the iron will to win - the Captain.

Wait a minute, John Madden isn't the captain, is he?

I believe it is Keith. 4th in defenseman scoring in the NHL and 3rd in ice time. As we have seen already, without Hossa and/or Toews the 'Hawks did not appear to miss a beat -- the scoring hasn't exactly been spectacular even with them in the lineup.

Losing Keith would hurt a lot. Whether that is how you would qualify the teams "best player" is up for debate.

most valuable

1. Keith, Leader of the best Defense of the NHL
2. Toews, you find him everywhere on the ice and he wins the faceoffs. He wants to win every ****ing Game and leads by example
3a. Kane
3b. Hossa

Hossa is our best forward, but I can't wait to see Kane in 2-3 years with some more offseason weightlifting.

You could just as easily be describing John Madden. Why isn't he 2b?

Even Patrick Sharp has a better FO% than Madden

That's more of a complement to Sharp though who's at 56% compared to Madden's 54% and Toews 60%

Dustin Byfuglien is better than both of them at 100%.

In overall skill, Hossa without a shadow of doubt. Nary another Blackhawk has amassed a 100 point season nor is it likely any will. HOwever in terms of who is most valuable to Chicago as of today. I would rank accordingly...
  1. Keith
  2. Hossa
  3. Toews and Kane
  4. Seabrook
  5. Sharp

Last year it would have been different but right now I'd say it's Kane.

As good as Keith is defensively, we have guys like Seabrook and Hammer that are studs defensively and our overall D corps is good enough to possibly withstand his loss for a period of time. But on offense this team seriously LACKS players that can put the puck in the net and create. If another 47 shot performance and another "great game" by an opposing goaltender that ends in a loss isn't proof of this I don't know what is. Then add in our moribund power play and we need all the playmakers we can get.

Hossa and Toews are better 2 way players no doubt, but Kane is no longer the liability on D that he once was. Let me ask you this, if the Hawks need a goal and you want the puck on one player's stick who would you choose??? If don't immediately say Kane then I'm automatically assuming you haven't seen many games. I feel quite comfortable with other dmen shutting the opponent down (outside of Keith) but I can't say that on offense.

Kane would miss the net
