His offensive skills were never questioned. Even during the tournament itself, which people SHOULD NOT use as a be-all, end-all to develop their opinions on certain players; everyone knew he was an offensive threat. That wasn't where the negativity came from.
My problems with him (and mine, well before the Oilers drafted MPS and this stupid discussion inevitably came up) had very much to do with a lack of responsibility and a dangerous game that I didn't think had much chance of improving in the Hunter system.
We've heard a lot about the London system in Edmonton (we've drafted from their often) and it's always been more impressive statistically than in reality. It's probably a big reason we DIDN'T send Gagner back to the OHL at 18 years of age.
Yes Kadri is 3rd in PPG in the OHL. But it's coming from a system that historically plays it's stars for 25+ minutes a game, in every possible offensive situation and at a time when meaningful overage scoring is down... It's just not as impressive to some of us as putting up a +10 on the worst team in the SEL, scoring a bunch of ES points in a man's league and surpassing Anze Kopitar's point totals from the same league at the same age. Nevermind that one of them is bigger, stronger and faster than the other.
