Because we overrate our prospects clearly, especially when you consider those huge seasons sbisa has strung together

I would rank Leblanc (he does not play enough "competitive" games), Maxwell (he was great during the 2008-09 training camp/pre season games but he did not progress as much as I, someone who does not follow the AHL, anticipated) a little bit lower...

With "... As long as you're not considered an NHL regular at the time of publication, you're considered for FW..." in mind, I would go with:

1. PK Subban
2. Max Pacioretty
3. Alexander Avtsin
4. Danny Kristo
5. Louis Leblanc

Anyone want to take a stab at the Habs top 5? Remember, there's no age limit for Future Watch. As long as you're not considered an NHL regular at the time of publication, you're considered for FW.

I'll say:

1. PK Subban
2. Louis Leblanc
3. Danny Kristo
4. Ben Maxwell
5. Yannick Weber
I used to be a great fan of Maxwell.... but he is still on our top 5, I will be sad.

This reminds me of how people were placing Chipchura on the top of their prospects list before the start of this season.

However, I still see hope for Maxwell.

Hockey's Future still has him as a 7.0B

Does anyone actually take Hockey's Future ranking system seriously?

While he'll probably be a better all-around defenseman than PK, I'm perfectly happy with having Subban. Guy is our future.

FWIW, I would rank Chipchura ahead of Maxwell and Weber, today. Still. Well, if we still had him. Or maybe that rates a ... on multiple levels.

People seem to be pretty down on Weber these days. After having such a great rookie season last year, it sort of raised the bar in regards to expectations going forward. Hopefully he can step it up.

He'll probably end up being a MAB.

I remember reading a THN magazine about 2-3 years ago when Robbie Earl was the Leaf's best prospect, or 2nd.

lets hope he play well at the olympics and that surely will help his confidence but i have a feeling he could be part of deal at the deadline

He was 3rd in 2008.

Look at this fantastic prospect pool :

1. Nikolai Kulemin
2. Justin Pogge
3. Robbie Earl
4. Alex Foster
5. Darryl Boyce
6. Chris Didomenico (I do like him though)
7. Dale Mitchell
8. Korbinian Halzer
9. James Reimer
10. Jaime Sifers

It's actually the opposite. Usually, all Habs prospects at center are seen as no more than 3rd line potential. Remember Plex?

Just thinking back to that 2001 draft, I remember how excited I was about that draft. Komisarek, Perezhogin and Milroy. I'll admit I didn't know much about Plekanec at the time..I don't think many of us did.

I was excited about Milroy (37th overall). He had decent size and put up some pretty good numbers in the WHL. He put up 92 points in his draft year and was playoff MVP one season if I remember correctly. It's too bad he didn't work out for us. Same with Perezhogin.

Apart from Kulemin and Didomenico as a longshot, that's a pretty lean group of prospects...even worse when you consider they missed the playoffs the 3 years before.

Everyone knows im a huge PK homer by now so I probably won't risk sullying my rep any further by saying he's had better stats so far than Pietrangelo this season in his 2 games We're a weaker team, esp on defense, I now

Don't see the big difference between the two except for draft position. Granted I haven't seen Pietrangelo play... maybe I should start watching him.

I really like Avtsin, but I HIGHLY doubt he'll be in our top 5 prospects this year.

Note to subscribers: Future Watch has been mailed out today. Be on the lookout!

I love Future Watch. There's nothing else like it on the market.

I should receive mine Wednesday (possibly even tomorrow but unlikely) so If I get mine before anyone else, I'll let you guys know some details.
