Niskanen/Brunnstrom and a pick for who?

Niskanen is playing himself out of a spot with his play so far this season and Brunnstrom is in a sophomore slump like nothing else. What are teams willing to offer? Niskanen was a healthy scratch tonight and Brunnstrom is barely playing 6 minutes a game.

I'm actually against trading both because it's generally a bad idea to sell low. The Stars should look to be trading some of their older players that still have some value left.

Daley may be a person that teams may want as well. Niskanen has had ample time to show what he has and IMO he has not delivered. Brunnstrom would be good on a team looking to rebuild like the Islanders or maybe even Toronto.

I'm against trading Brunnstrom, but mostly everyone from the entire Dallas' D (except Robidas and Grossman) can be had.

I would love to get Souray and Liles in Dallas myself.

Would Dennis Wideman be of interest?

His contract may be to high for my liking. How is he defensively?

This year, meh. He was excellent last year playing with Hunwick or Ference. And two years ago with Chara. But he's struggled some this year with turnovers.

Something Dallas has been used to with Niskanen. I think if Dallas makes a move on defense it will be for a #1 paring D man. I know those pieces i listed would probably not bring that back but other players not named Richards, Morrow, Neal, Benn, Eriksson, Grossman or Ribeiro could be had.

instead of a #1 pairing Dman, would you settle for a #2 pairing Dman in Bieksa?
would Niskanen for Bieksa be of interest to you guys? Bieksa have 1 more year left at $3.5M.

What interests you on the Islanders other than Okposo, Tavares, Bailey, Streit, deHaan, Hamonic, and Petrov?

I see that Wideman seems to have turned into a defensive specialist this year. I would definetly be up for Dallas trading for him, because he was one of the top defenceman in his conference last season and he has shown that he can contribute on the offense as well. Kind of like a Stephane Robidas, except probably better.

Basically the only "untouchables" on Dallas (in my mind) are Loui Eriksson, James Neal, and Jamie Benn. Also probably a couple of the older guys who have played their whole career for Dallas will not be traded. I think everyone else could be had for the right price - a price that makes Dallas better in the long run.

To Dal

Halak+Hamerlik+Metro

to Mtl

Brunnstrum+Niskanen

Dal gets a possible long term replacement for Turco, or a reason to use Turco in another major trade, either way if Halak replaces Turco there is a savings of about 5million per year.

A solid 3/4 line Centre with grit and some finish around the net

And a solid dman that's great on the PK and has lots of playoff experience and has been a great against top pairings all year eating up 25-27 mins a game.

Would do this deal in a second.

Hamerlik's contract is not too pleasing, but the guy eats up a ton on min. and serves as another veteran presence. Although, the most important piece in this deal is Halak. Decent proposal!

I am pretty sure Burke is interested in Brunnstrom. I think Fabian will be a trade deadline decision. He's not playing in the correct role in Dallas. You already have a better, more seasoned version of him in Brad Richards.

I think this will depend upon where the Leafs and Stars are at the deadline. If the Stars are in the playoff hunt and want to make another push, they may be interested in reacquiring Hagman or looking into someone like Stempniak. Don't rule out White but for some reason I think he'll be on Burke's radar to either re-sign or to trade for a first-rounder

I think you mean Loui Eriksson (Brunnstrom plays on the wing and is a scorer). Brad Richards is a playmaking centre.

I don't think Dallas will be pumping up for the playoffs this season. Any deal they do will be with the long term in mind. Either they make the playoffs with their current roster or they build for next season.

Brunnstrom + pick for Liles makes a lot of sense for both teams imo. Dallas needs a PMD badly, Colorado needs a scoring LW and has too many PMDs.

if there's any interest in Svatos, Tucker, or Clark, they'd probably be available as well.

Hmmmm that -17 (3rd worst in the NHL) is pretty damn tempting! He has been a minus player 8 out of his last 9 years.

Are you related to Eklund?

Souray for Niskanen. I thought he was playing so good hockey still... Or was that just last year?

(I hate the trade boards)
