What are you will to give up for a Cup run?

I was just wondering what I was really willing to give up for the right player for a run at the cup. Using decent Devil roster players who don't have NTC, our top pospects as listed on HF Boards and draft picks.

I came up with my top five I would use in a trade. I also tried to pick players with value. Remember, you have to give to receive.

1. First rounder or Second rounder (But not both).
2. Johnny Oduya
3. Tyler Eckford
4. Nick Palmieri
5. Brandon Burlon

Definitely not trading Clarkson, Greene, (Fraser or Corrente, Wille Mitchell all over again). Nor am I trading Halischuck, Cormier, Henrique or the two Swedes.

A combination of the above should be able to at least land us Niedermayer as a rental, if the Ducks turn out to be sellers.

I would definitely get rid of Oduya with the way Greene has been playing (and with Martin coming back eventually). Oduya would be a good starting point for Niedermayer but we'd probably have to give up a high pick, more than likely a first, and a mid-level prospect like Vasyunov, Palmieri, or Eckford.

That's just my guess. For all I know I could be way off.

I would give up: 1st this year, 1st next year (for a guy who's going to be here for more than 1 year), Oduya, Corrente/Eckford, Palmieri/Vasyunov/Perkovich/Burlon... I'm not willing to give up a roster forward.

id give up any and all draft picks needed. we have a TON of depth everywhere but goalie in the system, and our pick looks like its going to be in the 23+ range anyways

id also be willing to give up Oduya from the roster, or one of a bunch of prospects if need be

I wouldn't be opposed to dangling out Oduya and a high pick for someone that will be here longer than a year.

The question I pose is: Are people confident enough in Greene that they're willing to waive goodbye to Oduya? The way Greener is playing, he should be in the top-4 (or even on the top pair) still when Martin comes back. The emergence of Greene and the play of Fraser has given us a LOT of options going forward.

Johnny O definitely has the most value given his contract status..

I'm absolutely willing to deal Oduya for another defenseman.

I'm pretty willing to explore that option as well. You throw out a package of Oduya, first '10 and a prospect like Vasyunov or Burlon and we can get something good back..

Andy Greene might actually be one of the more valueable players on the Devils roster because he has a year left at 750K.

considering he's going to get another month up top, who knows... hopefully scouts are watching him.

Of our top prospects, I would most be willing to deal Tedenby. I feel as though he has substantial value as well... enough to land an impact player when packaged with a lower tier prospect (Eckford/Palmieri/Vasyunov etc.).

I would only move Bergfors for a "MogINLy" type... a direct upgrade on what Niclas' brings

I see Zharkov, Cormier, and Henrique as having more value to the organization then they would in a trade. I think you can throw Urbom and Corrente in there as well.

I feel like Corrente is extremely expendable because we've already got Fraser, Salvador, and White.

Yup, 4 of your 6 can't be stay-at-homers. As a wise man (Holland) once said..

White's not moveable, Salvador isn't expendable, Fraser is cheap and solid, and Corrente isn't ready to step in for the coming playoffs.

At least White only has 2 years left..

I love what Salvador's doing this year. He's wrecking shop on anyone that gets near/runs marty. I don't care if he takes the random penalty making people pay because I want opposing players to know that, if he's out there, you'll pay for getting near marty..

Although I do think Pandolfo will be an asset for any playoff run.
