They are both solid players and will help on out PP but both have their problems. Visnovsky makes 6 mill. next year. Zid is a UFA so we could lose him. Which prob makes him the better choice i guess.

I would be happy with either. They would be a great addition to the PP.

A first rounder for Zidlicky and I'd be very happy.

The Devils might not have to give up anything to get a top pairing defenseman back. In about a month they are getting back Martin which should be a good boast.

I wonder if anyone has any statistics on teams winning the cup after a major trade to their team during the season?

I'd take Visnovsky in a heartbeat, screw his salary next year. Adding him would make me orgasm on the spot.

His salary is not a problem. As long as Oduya is sent the other way in the deal, we can take on pretty much any salary for the next few years without losing Martin or Parise.

If Garrioch is correct that the price isn't that high for Visnovsky or Souray, I hope Lou pulls the trigger sooner rather than later.

Yeah, give the new guy time to integrate and become a well oiled machine for the playoffs.

GET IT DONE LOU!

This is the order of d-men I want:

1. Visnovsky
2. Niedermayer
3. Souray
4. Zidlicky

However, it'd be nice if Lou could get Zidlicky in addition to one of the top 3. Besides these guys, I think the devils need an experienced hard hitting d-man (Jason Smith? I havent been following him at all and I don't even know if he's still playing lol)

Smith retired earlier this season, but I understand what you mean. If Lou follows his pattern from the last few years, Zidlicky might be on the radar. If he works out, Lou might re-sign him. But to fit 2 new D-men with out subtracting at least one out of the current 6 might be a tough one.

If we get Visnovsky, I'll drive Oduya out of town myself.

If we get Visnovsky, I'll personally fly Oduya's plane to Edmonton, despite not having a pilot's license.

I really like Oduya, but he's got to be better to justify his not being traded.

I don't disagree, but just the fact that he would be going to that black hole makes me feel a bit bad for him, but whatever I'll take Vish back

But the better he plays, the more value he has. Since pretty much none of our other defencemen are tradeable, the writing may be on the wall for Johnny, no matter how well he plays. If we trade for a high talent, high salary defenceman, he almost has to be a part of the deal. The question is just what we can get for him.

If - IF - Martin comes back and is excellent, and I mean the best he's ever been - and Oduya returns to being a top-pairing defenseman both in his defensive play and his production - then we may not need another defenseman.

If.

If.

...get Visnovsky.

Greene has some value for sure but I really think we're gonna need him.
