What will our record be without Alfredsson/Spezza?

Well, for those who watch alot of Hockey, you'll remember that the Sens record without Alfie is deadly...Last I heard, was around 4-13-2 without him. With the updates of http://www.senschirp.ca/, how will Ottawa do, lets say if he does miss 4 Weeks/1 month. We're going to play about 15 game's without both Spezza/Alfie. What will our record be? I hate to say this but, it'll be under .500, I just don't think Michalek, Kovalev, Fisher and the other's will be able to take this load, it's just too much. Maybe if Leclaire kick's it up a notch, maybe we'd do better. I say around 4-8-3 with Alfie and Spezza gone during Alfie's 1 month period. I hope i'm wrong in a good way, and get more wins

Sabres - L (Even though we own them, Miller with no Spezza and Alfie )
Habs - L
Avs - L
Islanders - W
Flyers - L (50-50 though they suck right now but will they in two weeks?)
Bruins - L
Caps - L
Panthers - W
Canes - W
Thrashers - L
Rangers - L
Habs - L
Bruins - L
BlackHawks - L
Blues - L

I'll say three of those L's are OTL.

Record 3-9-3

You're saying the most we can win is 1/100 games?

I think they will go 7-5-2 because the defense will need to be way better than before even though it was solid. We will need to play a defensive game.

The reason why we lost against Boston was that our defense was just solid enough not to get scored on but we did not sustain the forecheck. Our defense was not as agressive as it was supposed to be so it paralysed our transition game. That resulted to a 2-0 win to Boston.

The reason we lost to Pittsburg was that after the 1st period we tried to play Pittsburg game because Alfredsson was gone. The beginning of the game was solid but alfredsson loss forced their hand.

I think also that Bryan Murray and Clouston are not to blame. The players are good but the poor defensive play forces Clouston to tighten up the defense and sacrifice the offensive game. The problem is that player are not playing agressive enough. They can but it's like they wanna avoid injuries. They don't want to pay the price.

In conclusion, if they play more agressive forecheck and backcheck (defense has to follow anton and phillips work ethic). Picard and Kuba have to play more physical and shoot more. kARLSSON Is playing Ok and sometimes great.

Hmm, well with the update, 4-6 weeks= almost 26 games let's just hope our captain heals quickly like he normally does.

The season can be saved only if...

After a questioning start of the season and also some backbreaking injuries, the Senators woes strike hard.

Why? Because our best players don't even make an effort. They always make the safe play which destroy all offensive production and put pressure on the defense because the other team get accustomed to the lack of offense then they can attack.

Who stood out last game? Kovie (+/-), Shannon and the others were average.

What do we need to do? Clouston needs to trust his players.
For example, Kovalev loves to play an open-up style, go east-west and make nifty plays. Let him play his game and he will play solid defense as a 3rd forward supporting defense and rushing up the ice.

I think it is the main reason Michalek, Spezza, Foligno, Regin, Karlsson, Alfie and much more don't play up to their potential.

Clouston, let them pass the puck quickly, let them dangle but put emphasis on backcheck.

It was what Clouston wanted but with some soft and inexperienced defensemen (Picard, Campoli, Kuba), Clouston can't let them play the style they want. I think that Campoli, Kuba and Picard can be PMDs (rush the puck, pass the puck and shoot it) but they're too afraid to. Even Phillips, Volchie, Carkner do a better job at moving the puck.

To conclude, if Clouston trust his players, Ottawa will be an offensive threat and if Picard, Campoli and Kuba play harder the Sens can also be a rock solid defensive squad.

p.s The only players that thrive in the system are Alfie and Fisher because they're solid 2-way players.
Michalek, Spezza, Kovie are really talented and are impact forwards but their creativity is destroyed by the lack of a confident defense.

The future looks really good with some solid additions such as Cowen, Wiercoch, Karlsson, Petersson(if his talent translate in the NHL), ect...

Over .500. I have faith that with both our key offensive threats removed, other players will step up. They have to, because if everyone just takes a back seat we'll never win games.

My Predictions:
W - Buffalo Sabres (already won)
L - Montreal Canadiens
W - Colorado Avalanche
W - New York Islanders
W - Philadelphia Flyers
L - Boston Bruins
L - Washington Capitals
W - Florida Panthers
W - Carolina Hurricanes
W - Atlanta Thrashers
L - New York Rangers
W - Montreal Canadiens
L - Boston Bruins
L - Chicago Blackhawks
W - St Louis Blues

Judging by some of the projected records listed, too many Sens fans just don't understand where the real heart of this team is. This team doesn't NEED Spezza. Like I said, this is 06-07 all over again... the heart of the team will rally again.

What are you saying? Fisher missed that exact same stretch of games in 06-07 as Spezza did.
