I'm really sorry you guys lost your two most important pieces for extended periods of time. Hopefully you can weather the storm. I'll still be watching the Sens when the Hawks aren't on regardless!

Now will see what this team is made up. If you think the season is over then go cheer for another team, we don't need you. This is when the team needs their fans the most, and what do we do? We abandoned ship, we're giving up, the season is over???? that's weak.

Well, I'm not giving up on this season, this team will get thru it but they need to feel that their fans are behind them and still believe in them.

Is it time to try Michalek on the left with Fisher and Kovie?

Yikes, the Sens are in some serious trouble here.

Its not good when 2 of your top forwards are out with injuries. Guys like Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson are the guys you do not want to lose at all. This team is going to be hurting but its time for the other players to step up.

Hopefully Alfredsson isn't out for too long. I have my fingers crossed for him and the team. I am not going with the majority of people and calling to tank the season.

Still a lot of hockey left in the season and Ottawa still could make the playoffs. You guys that are all set for tanking should go out and find yourself a new team to cheer for because you guys are not Senators fans.

I hope he doesn't miss the Olympics ,it will be his last one and it means a lot to him...not to mention he could captain Team Sweden or be the next in line

Lidstrom would definitely have the C over alfie...

There is way to much parity in the league to complete without arguably your two best forwards

Yeah, this injury definitely jeopardizes Alfredsson's participation at the Olympics. I hope he can recover quickly, but the injury doesn't look or sound good.

With Spezza and Alfredsson out, I guess we can expect to see the team use a trapping, defensive system.

It was definitely dirty, but legal. It was a blindside hit on a play where you have 2 players battling for the puck. The hit was unnecessary.

On the other hand, Alfredsson seems to heal only marginally more slowly than Wolverine.

how is that possible, it was Alfie who bestowed Wolverine with the ability to regenerate quickly

Holy overly dramatic Batman!

This team CAN cope. If they will is the question. Alfie isnt the force he was even just 2 years ago.

It was shoulder to shoulder. He was injured because his arm was extended and bounced around Gonchar. It was basically a check to the shoulder where the arm absorbed it all and his body none of it.

Nothing dirty about it. It wasnt even marginally dirty. Do compare to controversial hits, that many claim arent dirty:

Wasnt even close to as "dirty" as the hit on Naslund
Wasnt even close to as "dirty" as the Neil hit on Drury (which we all say was clean)
Wasnt even close to as "dirty" as the Ruutu hit a few days ago

Man, it was awful watching Alfie get hurt. Oh well, here's hoping he comes back quickly rather than using the hit as an excuse to eat nachos!

Oh, **** . I didn't even think of that. It sure helps Canada's chances, but given that this would be his last Olympics, and he really wanted to be there, you gotta feel for Alfie if he misses the Games.

Huh? Our captain is out for "weeks" while our best centerman is out for up to 8, and you think people are overreacting? Not to mention Foligno is still out.

I think the drama is warranted.

This team is going to turn into a Lemaire-style team I'm guessing. We're just going to trap the piss out of every team and just keep games tight and hope for the best. This would be a be a great time for Leclaire to really solidify himself as a top goaltender in this league by stealing us some games. That would be a nice change of pace.

We should. On paper, we still have a solid defensive group. If Kovalev can step up and he, Fisher and MM can get us a few goals per game and then shut her down, with Leclaire playing well, we can maybe get out of this hell hole at .500

But Murray should be looking to add a top 6 guy right about now. Just to get more offense and to send a message to the team and fans that we plan on making it to the playoffs this year.
