Sucks he won't be 100% coming back. Good to have him back though..as long as he can be effective.

That's fantastic news!

Hopefully he'll be close to 100% as we all know he's coming back early.

What a guy.

I must say that I wish Alfie would take a pass on playing at the Olympics this year. Those two weeks off would give him time to rehab the shoulder even more avoid further injury and get ready for the push to the playoffs. With the luck we are having this year with injuries to our key players I think it would be prudent for el capitane to watch the gold medal game between Canada and Russia on his basement tv in Kanata.

wow, this is almost a little to early for my liking, it will only be what, a month since he got hurt and they expected him out for 2 months. Today was his first day on skates, he must have felt good I guess.

1) It was never supposed to be anywhere close to two months. It was 4-6 weeks and it's been a month already, so if he takes another week he's right on schedule

2) Alfie has always been a fast healer and returns early from injury. Not surprised.

3) He sees the team is struggling and that he is needed. Again not surprised, he's an amazing captain and team player.

Yet another reason to love Alfie ... the ultimate team guy. Though, as much as I want him back, I'd rather he miss a few more games and return at 100% than come back early and risk reinjury.

I don't. As much as this team needs him, this is likely his last shot at being an Olympian, and after all that he's been for this team and this city, I wouldn't dream of begrudging him his chance at gold. If Canada doesn't win Gold, I really hope Sweden does.

Alfie is superhuman, but overall it is nice to see our team back in superior condition and fitness when actually playing. Last year with Hartsburg was a debacle, you could just tell the conditioning wasn't there for a pro level by the team. Last year Kelly had the speed of Jason Allison.

Also, I believe the Sens got new conditioning personnel this year as well after what happened last year.

It was one of the first things Clouston pointed out last year after his first practice

**Update**

Quote:
After a one-hour on-ice workout with assistant coach Luke Richardson earlier today, Alfredsson – who's been sidelined with a separated left shoulder since Dec. 23 – suggested he'll likely be ready for game action "sometime next week." But while he plans to join his teammates Friday in Montreal, Alfredsson doesn't expect to suit up against the Canadiens on Saturday night.

I just want to caution the Sens faithful to not expect too much right away. As great as Alfie is, any player returning from a long-term injury is generally not effective right away after coming back. Add to that the fact that he was struggling in the scoring department when he got hurt, the pressure that has to be on him to save this struggling team, and (let's face it, it is a factor) his age, he may need at least a few games to get back into game shape and to get with the flow again.

Clouston on Alfredsson: "We'll see how he feels tomorrow after today's practice...we don't want him to get hit and be out 2-3 more weeks."

FriedmanHNIC

Way Alfredsson is practicing, you've got to think he's playing tomorrow

I believe I called this yesterday.

It's not just his playing ability, his presence seems to fire up the team. Knowing your captain is back is huge.

If he's back this weekend myself and a few buddies are buying tickets to the Chicago game to make sure the Alfie chant gets started.

Oh captain my captain

Clouston: Alfredsson and Kuba may play tomorrow, both will be game-day decisions.

There's a chance he'll play tomorrow, but he doesn't know how big it is. The muscles around his shoulder are stiff.

He felt good in practice, Im pretty sure they are just going to wait until tomorrow to decide so they can see how his shoulder reacted.
