Price was not MAKING 2.2 mil, taht was just his cap hit because of bonus cushion.

IMO Eller comming probably means AK is gone.. I don't know.. Gauthier said hes NHL ready. I dont see him in a bottom6 role.. So maybe he'll make it longside Plecks & Cammy. His playmaking ability with a sniper like cammy could be deadly.

I'd sign Price. 3,5 Million for 6 years (Start at 2 million first year and go up graduatly.)

If we could trade Hamrlik that would be super but it probably won't happen unless a team needs him at the trade deadline for the playoff push. Also, I don't see how Price has earned or can command $3M+ like some are suggesting. Remember this kid has hardly any bargaining power: he's an RFA, he cannot go to arbitration, he had a terrible season last year and was supplanted as number 1.

According to http://www.nhlscap.com/no_trade.htm

Roman Hamrlik, MTL - NTC [held a full NTC until 2/1/09; from 2/1/09 to 2/1/11, has a list of six (6) teams in both the Eastern and Western Conference that he will accept a trade to; after 2/1/11, does not hold a NTC]

Not sure how many teams would be interested... it only takes 1 though.

Does anyone no if this precludes the team from burying his contract in the minors since he doesn't have a NMC?

Price will cost you more than $1.75. You trade Halak and he has you by the balls. He can demand what he wants now, and you HAVE to give it to him.

You realize that he is restricted right? The day a GM has his Balls squeezed by an RFA is the day that we make all players UFA and just shop for what you can afford on the free market.

What the heck..if an RFA can tell you what you HAVE to pay him then what is difference between an RFA and a UFA? Price can't demand squat he can only get an offer and react to it. I don't even know if he can file for arbitration yet.

I do know that he knows he didn't earn his salary last season so he'll play it cool and accept whatever he's offered and for once earn his status on the team. This is the best thing that has ever happened to him in his professional career so why do you think he'll act like a greedy dick and ruin it for himself?

The more I think about it in a rational way, the more I keep coming back to this conclusion as well:

I wanted us to deal one goalie to get better in an area of weakness in the organization. We were weak on prospects depth up front, and we lacked some cap-friendly assets with the potential of paying off big time.

Well, Eller just downright becomes our best prospect up front by quite a margin, and by the same occasion, probably is our best C prospect we had since the draft of Saku.

All in all, I think this move is a good way to start the offseason. What bothers me isn't the value of what we receive. I consider it's fair, considering there are a lot of capable goalies in this league and that we had two very good of them who were still young. I just hope Price will take the pressure and that the fans will be willing to give him a chance.

Pouliot - Gomez -Gionta
Cammalleri - Plekanec - A.Kostitsyn
Lapierre - Eller - Moen
Pyatt - Moore - White
Darche

Markov - Hamrlik
Spacek - Subban
Gill - Gorges
O'Byrne

Price - Desjardins

Per CapGeek:
ROSTER: 22; CAP: $58.8m; PAYROLL: $58.228m; CAP ROOM: $1.212m BONUSES: $0.640m

Short-term 2 years 5M/per for Plekanec. Eller will take his place. Maxwell will have matured and become our 3rd line center.

Last chance for AK.

It would be quite logical to trade Hamrlik, only if we land Hamhuis or Michalek in return and at a lower cap hit.

Not bad..but can we afford them in 58M?

What about a line up like as :
A.Kostitsyn - Gomez - Gionta
X (veteran Winger for 1/2 yrs) - Plekanec - Cammy
Pouliot - Eller - Pacioretty
Moen - Pyatt - Lapierre
White

the problem is no one will take hammer.. i'd love to have Paul Martin but i dont know how much he will command

I Plekanec to return. However, I think that we should make an offer to Lombardi if we can't. Bélanger would be nice too if Moore ask for too much money.

If we could get rid of Spacek or Hamrlik it would be great. Webber and O'Byrne could see more action and we would just need to find a cheap bottom paring D-Men.

I don't trust AK anymore. wouldn't mind to see him gone if we could get something decent or sign an FA. A package deal of both K Bros + something could land us something good no ?

OK, say we re-sign Plekanec but forget the luxury of a Dominic Moore and instead just pick up a guy like him at the deadline ...IF...we need him.

Or, if we can't sign Pleks, we secure Moore as #2 center with a bit better offer than we would have given him to be #3, and hope maybe Eller will take over in two years as a true #2.

It's definitely under the cap but mainly because you've only got a 20 player roster. At any rate, add 2 forwards and 1 defenceman from the Bulldogs and you're under the new presumed cap of $58.8M.

Probably just dreaming, but this is what I got at 1AM . Assuming we trade Hammer for a draft pick, but if you guys are really against that then add 5.5, minus .875 for Weber and 3 for Stempniak and Call up Max Pacioretty and save about 2.125 million and that should give us about negative 700K, which will easily be fixed because Markov isn`t coming back for a while.

I was wondering how you could keep AK and still make it under the cap until I realized that Frolov is the only one you added... and switched Plek with Belanger.

Ok, Price cap is too low. Think it was $2.2M. I doubt SK will still be here next season, especially at $500K. And the center line is weak.

Didn't mean to criticize but it's hard to do something when keeping Hamrlik on the roster.

Trade the Kostitsyns and a prospect/pick for Penner. Re-sign Pleks, Laps, Pouls, Tom Pyatt, and sign Taylor Pyatt. Trade Spacek away for a prospect/pick for cap room, or include him in the Penner deal for cap room. Sign a body backup goalie until Desjardins is ready.

You need two more forwards to make it a 23-player roster. The problem with Kovalchuk is that you can't add anyone else. Stempniak becomes expensive, he needs to go. Don't think Engqvist is ready. Guys like Desharnais, White, Trotter could be added along with a UFA at $1M. And I'd play Pouliot, a leftie, with G&G and have Eller surrounded with Kovy and Cammy. Or you could have Pouliot playing at center.

Gauthier, after a journalist asked him why he didn't get an established guy for Halak he said:"we have a lot of big contracts on our first two lines". Meaning he progects they're going to be pretty tight in their budget. So forget about adding someone else, even if the guys we have are overpaid second stringers.

Kovalchuk- Gomez - Gionta
Cammallerri - Eller - Andrei
Pouliot - Moore - ??
White- Lapierre - ??

Markov- Subban/O'byrne
Czech - Subban/O'byrne
Gill-Gorges

CAREY

I would love Armstrong or Torres on the 3rd, that would give us a hell of a third line. But probably no cap room.

If no Kovy i'm ok with Frolov under 6m.
