**** hey guys, too me this is the lineup i would absoluetly fall in love with! Just far to lazy to do the cap numbers, can anyone tell me if this would fit under the salary cap, it would be greatly appreciated!
I'm giving you a thumbs up! More than decent proposal here. Althought I'm not a Frolov fan. And AK on the 3rd line @ 3.25M is hard to chew.

I would try to land Hamhuis before Michalek. Add Ryan White as the 13th forward and maybe Shawn Belle as our 7th Dman.

Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta
Cammalleri - Eller - Frolov
Pacioretty - Lapierre - Moen
Pyatt - Maxwell - Schultz

Markov - Hamhuis
Gorges - Subban
O'Byrne - Spacek

Price
Biron

I would trade the Kostitsyn brothers, trade or buy out Hamrlik and not re-sign any of the UFA's we have like Plekanec, Moore, Bergeron etc.

Interesting day yesterday...wow.

I'm thinking perhaps the guy to target is Patrick Sharp. Hawks need to dump some salary.

Pouliot-Gomez-Gionta
Cammalleri-Sharp-Kostitsyn
Moen-Lapierre-Pyatt
Pacioretty-Eller-White

Markov-Spacek
Hammer-Subban
Gill-Gorges
OByrne

Price
Biron

Hmm...that 4th line is a bit of a concern. Then again, how much does JM use the 4th line?

I assume this also works out salary wise...

With Eller in our team, we get some raw talent and we know the guy is going to improve going forward.

I wonder if the organization has given up on the idea of signing Plekanec. I like Tomas, but I know I wish we won't get him back at a ridiculous price. With Eller, we're deeper at the center position.

Going from there, I actually wouldn't mind if we let go Plekanec (if his salary demands are over 4,75M/year), sign Lombardi around 3M per year, and spend the money left on a top-6 winger.

I just hope to hell Gauthier doesn't plan to keep the brothers...

Here's what I keep coming too with the help of capgeek.com:

2010-11 MONTREAL CANADIENS
PLAYER BONUS CAP HIT
FORWARDS
Scott Gomez — $7,357,143
Mike Cammalleri — $6,000,000
Brian Gionta — $5,000,000
* Tomas Plekanec — $4,750,000
Andrei Kostitsyn — $3,250,000
Travis Moen — $1,500,000
Lars Eller ($425,000) $1,270,833
* Maxim Lapierre — $1,250,000
* Benoit Pouliot — $900,000
* Sergei Kostitsyn — $900,000
Ryan White ($215,000) $850,000
* Tom Pyatt — $800,000
DEFENSEMEN
Andrei Markov — $5,750,000
Roman Hamrlik — $5,500,000
Jaroslav Spacek — $3,833,333
Hal Gill — $2,250,000
Josh Gorges — $1,100,000
Ryan O'Byrne — $941,667
P.K. Subban — $875,000
GOALTENDERS
* Carey Price — $1,750,000
BUYOUTS
Georges Laraque — $500,000
LOST VIA REENTRY WAIVERS
NONE
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS
ROSTER SIZE 20
SALARY CAP $58,800,000
PAYROLL $56,327,976
BONUSES $640,000
CAP SPACE $3,112,024

We'd have 3,112,024 left to sign:

- A backup goalie (0,700,000 - 2,412,024 left)
- Then, 2,412,024 left to sign a top-9 forward.

All this is, of course, if the cap projections of $58,800,000 for next season are good. This is not that bad. We could get a decent winger like Armstrong or Torres for that price. Non of them are great players, but they could all help our depth at forward.

If we let Plekanec go and signed Lombardi for roughly $3,000,000, we'd then have $4,162,024 left to sign a top-9 forward. The options would be more interesting, but then again, letting Plekanec go really ain't a realistic/wishable option.

Why is everyone assuming we will sign Biron? Did he show interest playing for the habs?

I am 99% sure you are overestimating the salaries of Tom Pyatt, Max Lapierre and Sergei Kostitsyn. There may be as much as $900,000 savings over those three guys. Pouliot might cost $100k extra, though.

Carey Price SHOULD be getting less money, but I am no longer confident that Habs management has any sanity on the Price issue.

Cammy Pleks Akost
Pouliot Gomez Gio
Pyatt Eller Armstrong
Moen Moore Lapierre
Maxwell

Markov PK
Hammer Spacek
Gill Gorges

Price
Biron

Assuming we cannot move Hammer's contract, this is what I would do. Resign Pleks and Moore, and sign Armstrong for size and possible top 6 replacement in case of injury. eller is surrounded by defensively responsible players, but also with players who can produce offense. Another Lineup I came up with since Eller does not immediately have to play center (as the St. Louis Blues scout said on the TEAM 990 today).

Cammy pleks Akost
Pouliot Gomez Gio
Eller Moore Armstrong
Pyatt Lapierre Moen

Front loads the 3rd line, but I'd rather see Eller start as center from the beginning.

We're in desperate need of Patrick Sharp:

Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta
Cammalleri - Plekanec - Andrei K
Pyatt - Eller - Sharp
Moen - Moore - Lapierre
(White)

The reason I put Sharp on the 3rd and AK on the 2nd is I don't trust AK's mentality around Eller on the ice. Eller needs a very stable influence and Sharp is that guy - AK right now is borderline trade material with low confidence. I'd even double shift Camm on the Eller and Sharp line to give Eller some 2nd line experience to see how he handles it.

I don't think I like Eller with two grinders, he has to play with at least one skilled guy. Please keep Lalime away and I don't see Darche with the team next season, AHL probably. I think we need some fresh blood in our top 6. Eller doesn't do that yet.

Eller has to play with skilled guys to continue to grow if he plays a grinding third line role, he wont grow offensively, that why I think Pleks should walk and get a good winger for the second line. Re-sign Moore or sign a guy like Maholtra who could take some shifts on the second line if need be. But if you want Eller to get confidence and grow he needs to play with good players!

If you keeps pleks at 4.5-5 million a season for a 5-6 year deal then what are you going to in 2 years with gomez still on the books, pleks on the books, and Eller could be in for a raise, plus having Leblanc and possible this years 1st rounder (depending who we pick) knocking on the door.

Pleks money could be used to fill other holes in this team.

A.Kost-Gomez-Gionta (Good work ethic line, may rub off on A. Kost)
Cammy-Eller- Frolov (Eller will get points between these two!)
Pouliot-Moore-Lapierre Good defensive with some offensive flare)
Moen-Pyatt-White (Defensive, hit, energy line)
ex. Trotter (wavier reasons/Cap Friendly)

Markov-Gorges (Soild Paring)
Spacek-Subban (Vet and rookie both with some offense)
Gill- O'Byrne (Shutdown pair playing low mins)
ex. carle (wavier reasons, also gives us another puck moving d-man)

Price (The Number 1)
Biron (French Canadian back up, can deal with the media, mentor price, and grow up around montreal)

On another note I would offer a consultant job to Olaf Kolzig (was a solid goalie for a long time and has a good relationship with price from the tri-city days, maybe help price stay on track if he has someone he knows well and trusts to talk to when things are going bad, someone who has experienced it!)

Its not like Eller is just coming out of Junior this guy played 2 seasons against men in the Swedish league, and from what i understand had a pretty good rookie year in the AHL last year in his first season in North America.

Just my opinion though..

One more thing I wanted to add everyone want to buy out Hamrlik which would cost us like 1.8 m the next two years I would try to either trade him OR IF WE HAVE THE SPACE put him on waivers/reentry waivers that the extra 750,000 cap hit this year and save the 1.8, from next year, again just my 2 cents.

why

The only way we trade Andrei is if we trade him for another top6 players who is paid more, I don't see that happening or for draft picks that will be simply bad management

and Sergei even if I think he will get trade for a draft pick ,I hope we keep him ,he will grow up when day and he will be a hell of a player

If you think we can trade Hammer and the Brothers for a proven good player you're dreaming

I thought this to at first then I thought bout how A.Kost played the last time his contract was going to expire, I would keep him hope he plays great to try and get a good contract next year, and either deal him at the deadline or trade his right next spring ( I believe his is still RFA).. As for S.Kost I think he has a future in the NHL just not with Montreal he isnt any better than our top 6 forwards and is useless in a bottom 6 role, so trade him for a pick or a real bottom 6 forward, I also think A.Kost will be better not having to babysit his little brother.
