You can find ****** music of any genre, and sweeping generalizations are unconvincing. That's my point.

It is fun to find good punk music not being recognized by radio. There are bands out there like the Lawrence Arms, Operation Ivy, and Bomb the Music Industry! that have not, nor are likely to receive much music industry support, but did/do amazing things.

Ok, I'm still having trouble embedding stuff since the end of the playoffs. Before I could just click the embed button from youtube, click the youtube button here, and go to town.

Now, it is still giving me a white screen and nothing else.

I think people would be surprised how many records use melodyne or some other high end pitch correction software to polish up the vocals. It doesn't always have to sound like T-Pain where the guy is singing through a vocorder.

Stop whining about it . . . . but don't kill yourself, just buy records you prefer to listen to.

Exactly, it's the people who use it to correct pitch rather than those who use it as an effect that frustrate me.

I'm looking at you Taylor Swift.

That doesn't even bother me either.

If you're using it as an effect that isn't really sneaky or fraudulent. But I think if you're using it to correct your pitch I don't have a problem with that either honestly. If you go into the studio and you don't have the natural talent to articulate the music and sounds you want people to hear, then hell, use the computer for help. Do I think you should be looked at exactly the same as someone who can walk on stage with a guitar and a PA and sound amazing.......no. But you shouldn't avoid availing yourself of the technology available to improve your music for the sake of credibility or authenticity.

i used to see a bunch of bands in richmond who are absolutely abysmal live, and they clearly depend on heavy tweaking in the studio. surprisingly, hoobastank puts on a damned good live show, and their singer is talented.

on a side note, linkin park can (and should) eat all the poop in the world.

on another side note, les claypool is pretty good at bass.

edit for epic meatloaf:

Agree 100%. Nothing wrong with using a vocoder, just as long it's not for masking your inability to sing.

Also, to quote the Simpsons: "Thank you NASA."

Is she even trying to sound good? I think she's just making sound because it makes for a more convincing lip sync, yeah?

My question is, who is the dumb-s**t that thought it would be good to record it? What non-damaging use could that recording possibly be? Maybe it was a sound tech she pissed off or something.

I have been on a huge dance hall/reggae binge lately......so I'll make my way through the staples:

Badman/rudeboy/Ladies-man tunes

Standard love duet

Political tunes.

Ganja tunes.

P.S. The sub-genre of bhatti bwoy/homophobic tunes will go with out example for obvious reasons.

P.P.S. That Major Lazer record is quality.
