That's because it wasn't a penalty and they only called it because the kid was hurt. The refs didn't know what the **** was going on. All they saw was someone hurt.

It looked like the ref didn't raise his arm until after he saw the Slovakian player knocked out. It was kind of an odd hit. The result looked a lot worse than the hit.

In my opinion it was a clean hit. The penalty was a call based on the results of the hit.

Not sure what the rule is for headbutts, but the American player threw one even if he didn't mean to. The Slovakian player got knocked out by the headbutt and slamming face first into the ice didn't help things either.

Well I thought that was a clean hit. Hands came up after the hit, he just didn't see him coming.

typical..to hand out a penalty depending on whether the player was hurt or not.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the hit. The only thing you could possibly criticize is that the hands came up after the fact, but the contact was completely shoulder. That is honestly embarrassing to officials everywhere that they called that a penalty, not to mention a 5 minute major.

Don't gotta tell me brother your preaching to the choir on that one. Its only gonna get worse with all this whining about headshots in the media 24/7, refs just make a call anytime someone gets hurt.

Are you serious? There was absolutely no "head butt" there at all.

He led with his head and made contact with the head. That is illegal even in the NFL.

Is Zucker that important that the US felt the need to not identify the right guy for the officials? Zucker will be suspended so he'll get his.

Good intelligent statement. Different between a clean hit, where a guy hit his face off the ice, and Cormier elbowing guys in the face skating to the bench.

Watch it. It's shoulder to shoulder and head to head, technically it's a head shot.

What a laugh. With calls like that, why bother playing the game. If the officials have an axe to grind go do it somewhere else.
To boot they kick out the wrong player. Contrived?
