Neuvirth? Like a slap in the face to Theo.

Caps need a win tonight.

No excuses.

Theo does seem to a be perturbed via CapsInsider, heh.

It's a breakthrough for Neuvirth, who has won two in a row and is starting to look like the top-notch prospect the Caps consider him to be. But, as you might imagine, not everyone is happy about Coach Bruce Boudreau's decision.

Jose Theodore snapped his stick blade when he came off the ice and then offered, "I just work here" as he pulled off his pads. The veteran has not played since a 3-2 loss in Vancouver eight days ago, but insisted that he's not hurt and is ready to go.

I think we've got a fully fledged goalie controversy!

Cue strung with the ghost freakout smiley.

No doubt dude. Theo has always been a solid team guy but going with Neuvirth over him in such a big game pretty much tells you his value in the eyes of the organization.

Never been a big Theo booster but I have a feeling this will backfire on the Caps tonight.

Hope they prove me wrong.

Theo needs to settle down. He's the back up. Starter is injured. Getting a hard start on new back up. Nothing to see here.

And we can count on TEB, who proudly stated that his job was to sell newspapers, to fan flames, stir pots and filter events and quotes to advance his own agenda. I guess he is bored with identifying and bird dogging Cap injury specifics so that our opponents know how to hammer our players.

. I like that Neuvy is getting the opportunity to play against an elite team for experience sake, but I really, really want the boys to beat the Devils tonight. I hope he's up to it.

Theodore would have been the smart move imo.
Not sure this friction is quite warranted either.

Given it some thought. Boudreau had the balls to do this during the playoffs last season so to him it's probably no big deal at all.

Neuvirth has been shaky the last 2 games, he just managed to get goal support.

This could go either way.

Theo to Philly?

Doesnt Theo know we cant possibly win with the kids between the pipes?! Maybe he will realize that some may think that we cant win with him either.

Regardless, I am very happy we are beginning to see signs of passing of the torch. Neuvy has earned a look, tough sheet Theo. UFAJT will bail to sign a fat contract at year end if we start him tonight, or not.

Not a fan of Neuvirth starting over Theo in a game like this. I'd rather have Theo for the playoffs than Neuvirth if Varly goes down again which is very probable.

I used to dislike Theo quite a bit last year but he's picked it up quite a bit this year and I definitely want him as my backup over Neuvirth.

Theo is probably geting concerned about his contract for next year. He's going to need some quantity and quality #s to shop or he might be looking at "Johnny" money..

i feel bad for Theo but am not opposed to Neuvy getting the start.

should be a good game, though i'll probably be watching Carlson in the USA WJC game.

HF has converted me to prospects first, team second!

Theo shouldn't be so upset. He put up a stinker in his last game against New Jersey (5 goals against on only 23 shots).

Last year should have been proof to all that we may need a young goalie to step up to the plate near the end of the year. Do those that dont want Neuvy to start, oppose Varly getting time last spring? I for one wanted to get him into a lot more games in case we needed him. Turns out we did, and he only had 4 games under his belt. I think its very important to groom Neuvy just in case he gets the call. Varly is injured now, all the more reason to get MN a solid dose of NHL speed.
