Why does Canada continue to run it up?

No, but nobody has said that.

As for the OP, it's been brought up - it's worse to have a team lay off on you than to lose badly. At least with the latter you know you gave it your all and so did they. No reason to add insult to injury.

It's like some of you have never played hockey before.

Playing in front of your country, your NHL team's management, friends and family, every player wants to chip in a goal. NONE of these players are going to try NOT to score. Has nothing to do with tie-breakers.

There's a reason Canada went down a rank when it comes to the friendliest countries-

We're horrible people with no morals.

because if it comes down to Canada and Say USA moving on and they have identical records its Goals for Goals Against.

We will wait til we see the US Hold off on running up the score before we pass judgement.

And Yes USA put Canada down last year, Then Canada roared back in epic fashion

There are several reasons:

Its insulting to the other team
People paid money to watch them play
It would be awfully boring to watch
They have friends, family employers watching do they really want to be going 50%.

All in all letting up is pretty dumb....

What does never playing hockey have anything to do with what you just said?

I'm a Canadian and not embarrassed in the slightest, I really don't understand why anybody would be. Nobody is to blame its a game, blowouts happen in every sport at every level.

I don't get it either. I think people would just rather complain about something rather than cheer or be happy.

This is far from embarrassing, it happens every year at every level of these tournaments when worst meets first.

Have you never played in one of these kind of games in your hockey career? I've been on both ends as a goalie and it's just life.

Oh please. There is no reason to let up in the NHL. They are adults and professionals.

On top of everything, they are there to entertain, and ANY fan would LOOOOOVVVVEEEE too see their team win 15-0.

this isnt football where you can just take a knee or just run the football when your up by a huge margin. They need to play at a high pace regardless, as that is what Latvia is doing.

Honestly, they probably did let it up a little bit, but when you have a vastly superior team, goals will find a way in the net.

That will be the day. But keep on bawling - we LOVE your tears.

There is no good reason to back off, and you lot to the south have been on your fair share off blowouts of others, hypocrite.

And it's not like we hadn't already laid off. Did you see the awkwardness that was Della Rovere on the PP? Hilarious - kept forgetting to rotate...
