Mike Richards vs Jordan Staal

Who is the better all around player? Offense, defense, penalty kill, etc.

Just trying to prove a point to somebody.

Mike Richards.

Not really sure of the point of this, as Richards is his team leader, while Staal plays a 3rd line role. But yeah, good for Richards that he is better than Pittsburgh's 3rd line center.

Perhaps, I'll start a poll to make myself feel better, just as you have done- Malkin vs. Powe. Who's the better player.

I haven't decided which poll I should make next: Malkin vs. Carter or Fleury vs. Emery.

How about a "Better Smile" poll-

Chris Pronger vs. Michael Strahan.

Richards, but if this is at all related to who should be on team canada... things change a bit.

Bags of fun.
Its obviously Richards at this juncture. Richards D is on par with Staal's or a little better (different styles, but both very effective), and his playmaking ability is much better. Tearing it up on the PP since becoming a top6 player helps make this a laugh.

When Staal is Richard's age though... I'm not so sure. But it will never look close to the casual viewer as long as their respective roles on their teams PP's are as different as they are now. Take out PP points this season and Staal has more goals and assists than Richards. Not what most would expect, I think.

Strange poll, I guess they're comparable due to the fact that they're both overrated for the roles they play on their hockey team.

Mike Richards, but if the poll was about picking one for your team I would choose Staal due to my deep dislike for Richards.

That's exactly why I voted Staal. Do people seriously need to prove a point when it's such a blatant choice? So one person disagrees with you, you really care if one person on HFBoards thinks Staal is better than Richards? I'm sure for every 1 person who picks Staal, there's at least 15 people that pick Richards anyway.

Not to mention, porn stars and nightclub owners prefer Richards by a wide, wide margin.

If there are two better groups of people in society that I would enjoy being in vogue with more, I can't think of them. Doesn't Staal have a trumped up underage drinking charge for drinking at his brother's wedding already? That's a decent start.

On topic: This is not really a fair poll, but I would not be surprised if the results were really close in two year's time. Pittsburgh fans, when Malkin was out, did they move Staal up to second line center? How did he look, if so?

One might argue that it's perfectly acceptable to get drunk at a brother's wedding, though, rather than the night before games.

Well the whole team fell apart when Malkin and the defense went down injured so he didn't really impress during that time but to be fair his wingers were Fedotenko and Chris Bourque.
