That lineup for Slovakia isn't likely. Assistant captain Martin Stajnoch is in a Saskatoon hospital tonight with a concussion and a face stitched in three different places. That leaves a major hole in the Slovak defence.

I'm confident they will bounce back and play a much better game that they did against Canada but there is no doubt the Slovaks will beat them. Slovakia is a solid team and they put on a solid performance against the USA today. I believe their offense will be too much for the Latvians and I expect nothing more than a 4 or 5 goal margin of victory for Slovakia.

i agree with you. i just hope the latvians don't lose by more than that 4 or 5 goal difference.

Sucks about Štajnoch, hopefully he gets well soon. Well, at least hraško gets to play, don´t understand how Mikeš could have played guys like jaborník and jankovič over ´him yesterday.

Hrasko was the human bullet that kept taking runs at the Americans correct.

Depends whether you´re thinking about that 5"9´guy in the No.16 jersey.

EDIT: Though I think we´re talking the same guy, that´s what he does pretty much in every game.

Should be a great game to gauge where these two teams are right now as far as team talent and ability.

Slovakia up 7-2 after the 2nd. Latvia with the last 2 goals, comeback?

Pánik having a huge night and Tatar with 2 goals and an assist.

Yeah, the crowd went nuts when Latvia scored, so great!

Ermics has screwed Latvia with his crappy play. Two games in a row with a goal allowed in the first forty seconds does not give your team a fighting chance. Kalnins was very solid in the last two periods (as was the entire team - they finally started to play hockey). Probably would have been a one goal game either way had he started. Sucks that Latvia had that goal go uncalled as well. And I agree with TheSwedishConnection about the crowd. It almost seemed like Latvia was playing a home game. Awesome.

I just wish either team had scored one more goal in the 3rd period as I had put my money on a more than 2 goals period, and it seemed very likely to happen after we saw 5 in the 1st period and 4 in the 2nd period.

I didn't get to see the match because there were no channels broadcasting it or working streams, but did Slovakia have a disallowed goal in the 2nd period?
