Absolutely. It would be foolish not to take a chance on him as the 7th D for the price.

Getting the cap space for him would involve waiving and sending down one of Voros or Brashear.

Does he hit?
I'm sick of soft defensemen.

Not going to find a better 7th defenseman. Not for that money. You can sent him to Hartford for the rest of the year if he does not work out.

Was he in the minors for the whole year, or was he hurt?

SO how about telling us why he was in the minors and why you'd like to keep him then?

The entire season. Salary cap casualty. SJ packaged Lukowich with Erhoff for salary cap purposes. Vancouver loaned Lukowich to the Stars AHL team because he used to live in Texas(playing for the Stars). Vancouver cut Lukowich a break by letting him live/play in Texas rather than in Manitoba.

Salary cap. They need help on defense. Bieksa is hurt again. Schneider is finished.

Waiving Brasher doesn't clear his contract from the books.

Yup. Makes the signing even dumber in retrospect.

It does clear the money this season.

we could really use a 7th defenseman. I don't know if Torts sees it this way though...I figured Sauer or Potter would've been up here by now as a 7th d-man at some point.

Count me in as well. At that price he's about the best we could hope for as 7th D.

I strongly disagree, especially about Roszival the way he's been playing recently.

He does. He's not a bruiser but he's fairly rugged. At least he was. I haven't seen him at all this year.
