Good trade for Washington, clears up lots of cap space and gets rid of Jurcina.

One of the top teams in the NHL right now, and look at how much friggin cap space these guys have! They gain about 3 mill in space with this, and with Nylander gone... frick.

Funny how there are no more "Scott Howson is a genius and we should never have let him go" type of posts on here lately, with the Jackets in freefall mode.

True enough.
How is that Huselius signing lookin?
And thank god I havnt heard much about Hejda recently. Hes a decent player, but not near the d-stud that many here would have yoiu think he was.

It's definitely a move you and I would do, and it's probably something the Oilers brass SHOULD do, but I really don't think Lowebellini has any interest in moving Ethan.

Wait a minute. Wait a minute! I was given the impression that trades are impossible to make in today's NHL.

I guess the competent GMs can find a way to better their teams, even if it's just a minor deal.

Yeah you'd think columbus would have taken Moreau and someone for Chimera, given you guys some cap room.

not like Chimera has a no trade clause or anything, but i don't see that guy coming back here any time soon, if you thought comrie and the oil had a sour breakup, chimera's was pretty high up there too (to a lesser extent, cause it is only chimera)

Comrie was bad--But Chimera also included some stuff in the dressing room if I am not mistaken. If I recall correctly, Chimera was down the depth chart and he spoke up said he better then some of the players then were playing a head of him and the oilers were wrong to play them and not him--something to that extent

Anyone know if jersey city in west edmonton mall will take my Ovechkin jersey and throw a C on it? If so, what am I looking at for cost? I think it is fine for me to assume he will become captain..

a bridge was burnt none-the-less, and Chimera doesn't have Bill as a father to make amends for him

Good on Howson for pulling the trigger to at least attempt to change things up a little in Columbus.

As Yanner said I guess there are some deals out there to be made. I would love if they could move Moreau and of course take back salary that is hopefully expiring at the end of this season. Maybe Staios as well while they are at it.

Pretty much. Chimera thought he deserved better treatment [probably because he's from Edmonton] and the fact we traded him for some picks left a sour taste in his mouth apparently.

Poor sport

With all the Hedja talk, it got me thinking he should be a Norris candidate year year after year.

What's wrong with Hejda? A good defensive D-man making 2M, nothing to ***** about if you are a CBJ's fan.

Oilers are paying Staios almost 3M.

Caps have created some space now. Their defense is porous. If I were Tambellini, I would be working the phones with McPhee to flip one of the Oilers d-men to Washington for draft picks/prospects (Gilbert, Grebeshkov, even Staios).

Good idea. Theodore sucks, and is behind Varlamov on the Capitals depth chart, but comes off the books at the end of the year... We could afford to take on his 4.5 and another bad expiring contract if a player and their salary is going out from our end.

...offer them Gilbert or Staios, but they would probable want Grebs just because he is Russian. Of course helping out the Capitals would involve them sending us a pick and/or prospect along with their junk. In an ideal world we could make it a three way with Toronto, and in that case, we could see a couple picks coming Edmontons way.

Except Toronto does not have picks.

If they want Grebeshkov and a willing to pay the price, why not?

1st round pick, which will be a late one +one of their bottom 6 forwards (Fehr, Gordon, Steckel) is a good return.
