Robyn Regehr

the Flames are lacking leadership and desperately need a serious shake up... they are looking liek the same uninspired team as they did under Jim Playfair and Mike Keenan...

so what would you offer for Regehr?... yes I know he has a NMC but for the sake of debate lets just say he will waive it... Ideally I would like to see the Flames include one of Boyd or Moss in exchange for a top 6 forward and a 4/5 defenseman

please no picks or prospects as the Flames want to win now... and try to keep the cap in mind

Once our injuries are over:

-------------------------------------------

Ottawa trades:
Alex Kovalev 5M
Alexander Picard Less than 1M

Calgary trades:
Robyn Regehr 4M?
Boyd/Moss (Why are you trading them? Are they forwards and they are bottom 6, right?)

--------------------------------------------

wow can the offer get worse?... Kovalev is not worth Regehr...

and to answer your question... Boyd/Moss are pretty much 3rd liners, Moss had 20 goals last year... the point of trading one of them to basically swap Regehr for a top 6 forward and one of them for a defenseman so a hole is not created

If you need a shake up, you need to trade Olli Jokinen And(or) Daymond Langkow not Regehr. If there is too good of a offer and Regehr need to be in it, then you put him in.

and what value do Jokinan and Langkow have right now?... that would be close to zero... so your plan is to trade guys not earning their salaries for what that could make the team better now??.... Regehr has more value than either of them and its dealing from a strength

Well you said a top 6 forward and a 4/5 defenceman.

Kovalev= top 6 forward
Picard= 4/5 defenceman

-------------------------------

Would Jokinen be available (for the Sens)?

Reghr-Volchenkov PK would shut down team Canada's top line

Flames should keep Regehr and try to move Phaneuf for a 1st line center. Dion Phaneuf and Olli Jokinen for Jason Spezza and Anton Volchenkov? Volchenkov and Jokinen are UFA's after this season, Spezza and Phaneuf are both signed long term at similar cap hits. Ottawa may have to shed a bit more salary, not sure. Didn't put much thought into this so don't shoot me.

phaneuf has been playing very well lately, arguably the flames most consistent d-man. imo it's actually been regehr who has been keeping phaneuf back to a certain extent.

trading regehr would be d.sutter's last resort, a move like that would shake the whole dynamic of the team.

I would say that. I posted the exact same trade in the Sens board and got laughed at. Good to know someone also thinks it is fair value.

i made the mistake of assuming common sense would be used... maybe even consider how the offered player might fit... and when i said 4/5 defenseman i was thinking 4/5 on the flames and Picard wouldn't sniff the top 4 in Calgary

To Washington:
Robyn Regher

To Calgary
Brooks Laich

Deal? Washington gets a mean, stay at home stalwart to match up against the other teams in the easts best. He would be Washington's answer to Chara, Pronger and the other big East dmen.
Calgary gets some much needed help upfront from Laich who can also play center. Laich is also a Sutter type forward who will fit in very well with the Flames style.

Deal or am I way off?

Not bad, but I think Calgary can get more for Regehr. Let's start talking first round picks as well. Laich is a good start, though.

I would trade Phaneuf before I ever trade Regehr if I'm the Flames. For what Regehr brings, he's on a sweetheart deal.

I'd love to see him in the ducks uniform but I'm not sure we have the assets you desire.

No way they'd include Getzlaf/Perry/Ryan, and I seriously doubt Koivu/Selanne get traded. That leaves Lupul as the only real commodity. Everyone else on the team has potential but not proven.

Defensively, I think Scott Niedermay, Ryan Whitney, and James Wizniewski would be off limits, so I'm not sure who you'd want:

Nic Boynton
Brett Festerling
Brendan Mikkelson
Sheldon Brookbank
Steve Eminger

...

not exactly a win now package. We do have plenty of younger player/prospects, but as you mentioned thats not what you're looking for.
