The Habs have the most PKs in the league (by 9) and the fewest PPs (by 8). Needless to say their -58 penalty differential is the worst in the league by a landslide, dwarfing Ottawa's -36.

You will not get much sympathy for your officiating woes here I'm afraid.

I hate it when refs get blamed.

Yes, refs mess up, it happens... its the players' job to overcome the bad calls. That's what great teams do.

Winners remember hard fought victories, losers remember blown calls.

Take the high road...

POSITIVES:

-Pouliot was generating chances, and shot the puck with purpose
- Markov continued to demonstrate his great vision
- Good work by Moen, Max Pac and Metro again
- A. Kost is hot right now

NEGATIVES:

- MAB has to be a 4th line forward - he is a liability on the point in the defensive zone
- Lapierre and Dags bring nothing
- Although Gomez made plays, the guy has no finish. We should have had the Sens buried after the 1st
- Faceoffs are atrocious
- Martin got outcoached bad tonight. Why was Lapierre's trio out with 2.5 minutes left? He also needs to seperate O'byrne and MAB.
- We are witnessing the O'byrne of old

Decent road trip so far.
Price gets his chance to re-claim the #1 spot.............

I like class as much as the next guy, but in the dirty world we live in and with the way games are officiated in the league, a bit of whining by the Habs' brass is in order from time to time. If only to counterbalance the other organizations that work the refs.

The Habs lost tonight because Leclaire kept them into the game after the first period..if the Habs hadve scored on Gomez shorty and Pouliot great chance in the slot it would have been a different outcome.... MAB again proved tonight as to why he isnt an NHL calibre defenceman.... They need to go out and sweep the state of Florida and I will be happy with a 6-1 road trip

Kerry Fraser is Kerry Fraser. It wouldn't be a game without him making his mark on it

Having said that I thought 3 of the penalties were legit. But Fraser totally messed up on that late goal in the second he disallowed. Then again that disallowed goal was scored during a bogus trip penalty PK

All things considered Kerry messed up but we lost it

I thought the Gomez, Pouliot, Gionta line started real strong with a nice goal by Pouliot. However as the game wore on those guys started making some bad decisions with the puck. Too many blind around the back passes the wrong direction way on Sens sticks. They were nicked for 4 giveaways as a line but it could have been scored double that.

The first line was a bit loosey goosey with the puck to at times and they also were scored with 4 giveaways

Somebody was moaning about the 4th line being on with 3 minutes to go but those guys were the ones at least getting some chances in the 2nd and 3rd. Same with the 3rd line. SK had 2 with one post.

Not a great game by Halak but goaltending was not the reason we lost. We should have won that one

Sens coach Clouston still not content with NHL referees

Ottawa, ON - In his press conference minutes after his Ottawa Senators downed the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 without taking a single penalty, coach Cory Clouston was asked if he felt satisfied with the referees. Earlier in the month Clouston criticized the NHL officiating after his team went three straight games without a powerplay.

"No I don't feel satisfied to be honest with you", Clouston replied. "Yes we had a five-to-nothing advantage in powerplay opportunities but I felt there were maybe six or seven more powerplays our club could have been awarded."

"And if you look at the guys [on the Canadiens] that were penalized, they weren't really their best players. I thought at least they could have called a couple on [Brian] Gionta and [Benoit] Pouliot, possibly a few more to the defenseman [Andrei] Markov."

Clouston continued, "The timing of the powerplays were not great either. We had a powerplay with a minute to go in the first period. What can you do with that? You need the full two minutes to really get your powerplay units clicking and we didn't get that chance. We also should have gotten one when they pulled their goalie because we had to play a man short for about a minute there, which seemed really unfair to me."

The Senators coach concluded by adding, "[The officiating] is taking some baby steps forward, it's improving, but it's still not good enough and quite frankly it's a shame."

Hockey lesson for everyone whining about our 4 game streak.

We played better tonight but have 0 points to show for it. Surprise, surprise, the biggest difference maker this game was the goaltender....theirs. Just a friendly reminder that at the end of the day, the W counts more than the little moral victories you get along the way.

This was a hockey loss, just one we were bound to get in this road trip. We should have put it away with our chances but hey, Leclaire gave them a chance and they took it. Very disappointing but we're 4-1 in our roadtrip and still have a couple to go. If we finish with a 5-2, I'm more than content.

Forget about this one, focus on Tampa and let's hope Hammer returns. Price starts next game.

Can't blame the refs to tell you the truth. They literally took away a goal from Ottawa. You may complain about the penalties, but the way the Habs play, putting so little pressure just isn't the type of game that'll draw many.

I thought the team lacked gas in the last half of the game, they really dominated the play until the second goal. They really couldn't get anything going and Markov looked bad at times in the third.

I understand we basically played an AHL team, but there were some positives. First, I really like that second line, I didn't know much about Pouliot but damn is he skilled. He fits Gionta and Gomez like a glove. Gomez also starting to look like a top 6 player with wingers who shoot first and can carry the puck with speed. I love Gionta btw, always have, the guy is the teams captain imo. He really makes Gomez that much better. First line was good and bad. Bergeron was atrocious, that play along the boards made me pull my hair, how can you seriously be that bad defensively. He created some chances offensively though. It's too bad, after the first, if the Habs maintained that level of play they would've blown out Ottawa.
