As long as Latvia starts Kalnins in goal and plays as well as they did the last two periods against Slovakia it should be a decent game, otherwise we all know what will happen. I'm hoping for the former.
They already scored three in the LAT-SVK game. Don´t think they´ll get one against the US though, American deffense is 200% superior to ours and US goalie is better too.

Well, actually four if you count the one they scored but the refs somehow missed. And you're forgetting that they have a few KHL players who've scored against much better goalies than those on team USA.
I think they'll definitely get at least one if they're not off their game again. Something along the lines of 5-2 wouldn't be out of the question. I think the Canada game has given a lot of Canadians on here the impression that they are much worse that they are. They had a very sh1tty game. They're not always THAT bad.

Sure, Bukarts and Cinks are interesting players. However, there is no way the US D will let themselves under pressure from Latvians the way our D did and they won´t let them close enough to the US goalie often enough.

If they can beat the Russians, they can give the States a run for their money. Is it likely to happen? No. But the States d is not that spectacular, and I think you're giving Slovakia's defence a hard time. They didn't play that poorly, they simply got beat by some nice moves on the Latvian's part.

Pre-tournament games mean absolutely nothing in this tourney (Kazakhstan beat finland last year), Russia hasn´t even been playing very well in the tourney itself and the Latvians have way more (political) reason to want to win over Russia than the US. I´m not saiyng that Latvia is that bad, I even think they can get a nice result against SUI, but the US is absolutely superior comapred to them.
As for our deffense, I´m giving them only what they deserve, they played absolutely disorganized in both games and they let the Latvians skate around them, while the Latvians repeated the same move like 10 times, okay you can write that one to the Latvians, but the way our D let themselves close in their own zone by Latvia, they were just dreadful. I´m not the only one to think that, even the coach and teh forwards think that. Our D is between three worst in this tourney.

Gotta disagree with you here, Fowler, Ramage, Carlson, and Warsofsky are all very solid dmen and the penalty kill is phenomenal.

Okay, so by your logic anything less than a 12 goal victory by Canada over the US should be viewed as nothing less than a disgrace for the Canadian players and all its fans. If the game is not a 12 goal spread, maybe you should retire your interest in the sport of hockey. I mean the US is just awful, shouldnt be allowed to compete in the tournament, right?

Lots of ifs and buts in this post. Bottomline: Latvia is certainly a better side than what they showed against Canada. That being said, the U.S. has a much deeper team (regardless of some of the professional affiliations of the Latvian players) and should win this game fairly easily. If not, then yes, the U.S. should might as well go home.

Wow. You really don't know how to analyze anything properly do you? How the hell do you come to that conclusion from what I said? Canada is not even in the discussion here.

No, there was one "if", and it was admitted as such.
