Winter Classic Roll Call

Who's planning on traveling to Boston for the winter classic? I'm staying at the Hyatt Regency downtown and plan to take the subway to the game. I also planning on attending practice on the 31st.

No, not for nye. I think they said they tried, but couldn't get it done, They just gave us a list of places we might be interested in checking out.

Is your hotel close to Fenway?

You should hit up the Cask and Flagon to pre-game, it'll probably be packed with Flyers and Bruins fans (maybe some Flyers players as well ), should be a pretty fun atmosphere.

Otherwise, just make sure to leave extra, extra, extra early for the game. Boston public transit, especially the T (subway) just absolutely sucks. The nice part is that if you're staying downtown, Fenway is probably only a 20-25 minute walk depending on where you are, so if you're feeling up for it, it's not too bad.

I used to live about a block or two away from Fenway for the last 3 years, so I'm pretty damn jealous of you guys, have an awesome time! If anyone has any Boston questions or anything like that, feel free to ask.

We're walking over from our hotel (Back Bay) like we did in September for our Red Sox trip. Not staying with family like we originally planned because we liked the walk. There were plenty of nice places that promised they had heat in the winter, and these nice places offered seemingly free-flowing taps. We hit everyplace from Cheers (to say we did) to Jillians, many of them 2-3 times.
Are we all meeting for a cold one behind the right field bleachers?

Leaving the 27th and getting there by bike

Not 100% sure where we are staying...hopefully something pans out at Northeastern...we should probably figure it out soon though...

Also, check out where we are on the GPS when you guys leave, maybe drive by and shout words of encouragement.

Leaving the 30th. Staying at whichever hotel was included in the phillytailgate.com package until the night of the game. I want to say Park Plaza? But after that, since we're staying until Sunday the 3rd, we'll be going to the hojo across from Fenway.

Just my two cents for Flyers fans coming in for the game.

I take the Green Line every day (the line that Fenway is on). As long as you are in the underground portions the T is fine. Downtown to Fenway is all underground. It probably takes about 15 minutes.
Definitely take the T down to Fenway (Kenmore) or take a cab. Don't try to drive down there. There is limited parking and it will cost you an arm and a leg.

I'll let you know Christmas morning if Santa got me tix. If so I'll be staying on Cape Cod at my buddies house and taking the train in the day of the game.

Ehhh I dunno if I'd totally agree with that, I didn't take the Green line every day, but I took it several times per week and I've hit several pretty big delays.

The one thing I'll give it is that they usually up the service after Bruins games, so hopefully they'll do the same thing.

Agree 100% on the driving/parking part, don't even try.

EDIT: I should add that in the Green Line's defense, I tend to be a pretty impatient person. I've just hit a couple delays at really bad times (when I had to be somewhere important), so now whenever I use it, I leave extra-early.

Hey all..

great thread. hope to meet with some of you who are staying at the mariott in cambridge. I am staying there out of convienece as parking/driving is awful as it is right near 3 major hospitals. The T is the way to go.. If you are taking the T then check out this website http://www.mbta.com/fares_and_passes/charlie/ because you need a charlie card/ticket to use it. pm if you have any boston specific questions safe travels and happy holidays!

I'll be there with a few friends of mine.....quick question though, do I wear my Briere jersey or Timonen? I'm torn....both are playing badly so it's like the lesser of two evils here.

The NHL is hosting a NYE party at the House of Blues. I have seen tickets kicking around for $225ish. I think I would rather be at a sports bar with other Flyers fans myself.
