Battered fan syndrome.

Does anyone else feel psychologically abused by the Bolts? They go through stretches where all they want to do is hurt me. They don't show up, they look disinterested... they make me want to throw my TV out the window. Then, right about when I'm at my breaking point, they do something sweet like rattle off 4 wins in 5 games and draw me back in. I find that where I was once slamming them and their effort I'm now defending them to others. When will this cycle end?

It's worse when they aren't supposed to be awful. I'm with the OP, there has to be a 12 step program somewhere for this, except I can't really admit that I have a problem.

I liked Schwab! When we played on the schoolyard I was Puppa, Schwab or Terreri while the others were Hasek, Roy or Belfour

It could be worse, Shawn Burke could beat you after a bad game.

I sat through 4 seasons of 50 losses.....this feels like an island cruise.

If you're attutude is that they're amediocre team with a small chance of making the playoffs, it doens't make you go through the extremes.

I'm a Cleveland sports fan as well. This hockey team feels like a perennial winner compared to the Browns, Indians..

This pretty much goes with being a fan of any team, of any sport.. It's all part of the fun of being a fan...

It's okay if it's after a bad game!

Except when your best wide receiver shoots himself in the leg and goes to jail for 2 years while the dynasty collapses. Then being a fan is not so fun.

I think this team is schizophrenic and it's tough loving a schizophrenic, ask my wife. But seriously, it's far better than the pre Vinny/Marty/Brad seasons when every year was a battle to not finish dead last in the conference.

And again they don't show up to an important game against the Habs. Wake up boys!

Two words for you: STOP WATCHING. I did. It's ****ing liberating. No pissed off accelerated heatbeat in bed at night after another uninspired, horse **** effort. No wondering what went wrong....AGAIN. It works. It was hard for the first week or so but after that it was a piece of cake. I couldn't give a flying **** if the team bus crashed after another losing effort in some city where they "should have won if ______ happened". **** them. They have completely lost me.

I went to the ER and the doctor noticed all of the bruises of different ages and threatened to call social services on the team... but then I showed him pictures on my cell phone of the time the team took me on vacation for our anniversary and I think everything's cool. I just don't know how much more up and down I can take :/

I have to wake up every morning knowing that Gambler's Anonymous dropout gets to make decisions affecting a team that was responsible for some of the best father/son memories I have, and every day I have to ask myself why I don't just end it all; Hell can't be nearly as bad.
