Comparing Zajac to a player like Cheechoo is an insult.

Cheechoo is a great hockey player that fell off a cliff the last two seasons. I don't care whose line you're on, 56 goals is incredible. It's sad that he can't seem to score now.

when you're a 1 trick pony and goaltenders learn your habits... you drop off into mediocrity.

Cheechoo was also helped immensely by the drop in physical play with all the rules changes after the lockout, because many of his goals were garbage goals scored around the front of the net. Then physicality gradually returned, he could no longer get those garbage goals, and he dropped off into mediocrity. Very similar to what happened to Gionta.

The one place Trav is really slumping is faceoffs, where he was very strong last season. He might not be racking up the points like he was, but he's still amongst the best 2-way forwards in the game and has taken a mere 14 PIM while doing it.

I think we'd all love for him to shoot more, instead of almost always thinking pass, but regardless, I think the article is a bit foolish. A) I don't even think Zajac is a "star" and B) He's not as good as he is simply for riding the coattail of Parise.

Yeah the stats can speak for themselves, but we're a team that is all about cohesion and not a one-man show...putting Zajac elsewhere wasn't just going to translate into anything and the fact he was a -2 and had no points doesn't necessarily mean it's all on HIM.

Sometimes stats are important, sometimes they are not. In this case, they're not. It took a pretty long while for Zach and Trav to build the chemistry they have now..and I still think they're both players of the same caliber without each other.

He scored 28 goals in 03-04 and at a 27 goal pace in 07-08. Not elite, but hardly mediocre.

One makes a horrific mistake - and detracts from his own hockey knowledge - by confusing fantasy standards for what makes a good player with real-life NHL standards.

They are quite different.

Unfortunately, HF is populated by many who do not own a pair of skates, hence fools like Allen can suggest that Zajac is a leech, a "star by association" and other naive cliches.

Allen and those who subscribe to such shallow mentality, are hockey "experts" by association only.

Just my opinion.
