I was on the fence to start the year but since the move to center he's made a believer out of me. Huge fan of the SOB now!

Ive always liked Sob, His effort and play as of late makes me really not want to see him go when Looch returns.

Loving this guy lately. He is so much better in the center than the wing!!!

He has played like this before that is why I call him out. He played like this then disappeared for 2 dozen games. Yes the position change could be a reason but a lot on this board agreed there wasn't room for him at center or was that an issue and is it still?

If PC and CJ are not paying attention we will still ask him to play like he has shown regardless of the position.

I think there is room for him, but I'm not convinced CJ thinks so. Begin just can't stay on the first line and I doubt he gets sat. The recent play of Sobotka is another point in favor of the 'Bergeron to wing' movement. I'm so torn on that by itself - first I was for it, then against it, now I'm leaning back again...

This is probably Sobotka's first ever game where his effort was noticeable for more than one or two shifts, what are the odds he can keep it up ?

I might have to wear my Sobotka jersey to the Winter Classic. Surprising how small it is though, he's a much smaller guy than people realize. Don't know how he does it.

If he keeps his playing this way, he will increase his trade value as we approach the trade deadline.
As an RFA Chia has to soon decide whether he wants to resign him and whether SOB & his agent are agreeable to the Bruins' price.
If the answer is no, I would expect Sobotka to be trade bait as the Bruins seek to upgrade their scoring.

The way most of the season has gone it won't be a good thing to trade him then.

Wheres the love for me bro?

SOB has been fantastic. Unfortunately we got 3 centers tied up for a while (I'm fully expecting Bergeron to get resigned). SOB could easily flourish as a 3rd line center I think, but hopefully he's content at 4th line C for a while.

he's been looking really good lately. i think he's starting to really find his groove. he's making smart plays, well positioned, playing way bigger than he is, just great effort all around. he's been creating some scoring chances too, too bad his linemates haven't been able to capitalize on them though. he has earned and deserved a spot on the roster when lucic returns. i think he has something like 3 goals in the last 10 games, and he's second on the team with hits, pretty good for someone getting 8-10 minutes a game.

Yet he doesn't back down from anybody. Boris poking and prodding at him and 15 seconds later SOB had a giant smile on his face laughing. Love the kid.

Someone starts reading this guy when he's behind the net, it really could result in some much needed scoring. He has good eyes when he's back there, and surprises the hell out of defenders with his tenacity.

Yea, with more talented line mates he could do some damn good things. He'll be a real good 3rd line center for a long time I think. Mike Fisher light in my opinion.

i'm confident the little SOB can hold down centering the 3rd line and Begin can go back to the 4th and the B's should stack the top 6

I have to admit SOB has been a little fire plug lately. I do believe he can handle the 3rd line center position which leads me back to trying Bergy with Savard. Other teams try the same things like Crosby / Malkin, Thornton / Marleau / Heatly so why is it so hard to believe it can work here? Just try it. Watch the olympics because Bergy will be playing the wing there and he will be awesome simply because he is an awesome player regardless if he is at center or wing. Sobotka can do the job at center so what is stopping Julien from at least trying it out?

Lucic Savard Bergeron
Wheeler Krejci Ryder
Sturm Sobotka Recchi
Paille Begin Thornton / Bitz

i have been disappointed with sob for so long, but this year he has been giving a full 100% every shift. the kid is the little engine that could. he has the perfect no-quit approach and its finally starting to come through on a shift-by-shift basis.

i agree, its worth a shot putting him on the 3rd line with rex and stone-hands. sobotka is actually pretty crafty at getting passes out front, where rex plays his best game.

but lets be serious, julien will never go for it.

When SOB is on, he is just what this team needs. He needs to stay at center though.

I can see two different scenarios when Lucic returns.

1.)

Lucic/Savard/Sturm
Wheeler/Krejci/Ryder
Paille/Bergeron/Recchi
Begin/SOB/Thornton
Bitz

2.)

Lucic/Savard/Bergeron
Sturm/Krejci/Ryder
Paille/SOB/Recchi
Wheeler/Begin/Thornton
Bitz

Since we are playing OK right now, I would start with option 1, but if things begin to slide again, especially in the scoring department, we could quickly go to option 2. I really like option 2 because the first two lines are stacked, and the third line has a lot of speed and tenacity. It also sends a wakeup call to Wheeler, who is playing like dump. Bitz can be worked in as others slump.
