Roy returns to practice

Quote:
Sabre forward Derek Roy was back on the ice at Thursday's practice for the first time since suffering an upper body injury last week. Roy was skating on the 4th line during the workout.

I'm thinking Lindy will re-insert him to the lineup for Friday's game. I'm pumped for us to lose to ATL (like we always do) and to read all the post game venom directed at Roy. Should be entertaining!

They didn't say anything about Kaleta returning, so I'd assume that Mair would have that RW spot. I'd be interested to see that line for at least a period. Those guys would give Roy some space.

I think 1 and 3 are a lock. If Kaleta is still out, I might try something like (silly line nicknames in parentheses):

Hecht-Connolly-Pominville (HicCuP)
Vanek-Kennedy-Grier (ViKinG)
Ellis-Roy-Stafford (turnovERS)
Mac-Goose-Mair (MGM)

Mac-Goose-Stafford certainly has shown some potential, so maybe breaking them up isn't such a good idea.

MSG referred to VKG as "The Frozen Four Line" in a graphic last game since all three linemates won NCAA championships

Give him Connolly's spot, put Connolly in CMacs place on the Gaustad line, and put CMac down with Ellis and Kaleta/Mair.

I would do one of 3 things with him

Put him on LW with Goose/Stafford, have him center that line with Goose as the LW or have Roy center Mac/Stafford since they looked great together in preseason.

Just got back from the practice this morning . . . If Roy shot after 7:00 p.m. like he does @ 10:30 a.m., he would have 50 goals a year. Timmy, of course, even passed up the good shots in practice. ARGH.

I like Roy when he doesn't try to make plays for his linemates but keeps his game simple. I think Ellis and Mair will be good for him.

Nice call josh.

I guess Mac/Roy/Staff was a bust, so tonight we caught a few shifts of Roy playing with Goose/Stafford. Not sure if it was LW or center, but I think that line has potential if a) if Ruff keeps them together for at least several games, and b) Stafford stays focused and doesn't regress to his recent crappy self.

Mac is overdue for a visit to the 4th line anyways.
