I have little doubt that if we dealt Horcoff for Briere, we'd wind up being just as upset with Briere. Neither guy can come close to delivering what he's paid for.

If we're really lacking small soft centermen who can't play defense, we can just wait for Comrie to get back in the lineup. No need to pay one $6.3 million until 2015.

I'm sure the mathematicians at the Oilogoshere Institute For Advanced Statistics are working day and night to invent some type of metric that shows Horcoff is a top, elite performer. I'm excited to hear what they come up with.

I do it without thinking twice. Sure Briere is small but unlike our small players, he has produced at a high level consistantly.

Trade Horcoff for Briere
Trade Gagner for a good defensive dman

Penner Briere Eberle
XXXXX Seguin Hemsky

That looks like a good top 6. We would need to find a winger with size to play on that 2nd line. Maybe MPS?

I think I've heard of that. It's called Opposite Day.

Not going to happen this year anyway, so it's a moot point. If the reports are true as to Horcoff playing with injury, no trade involving him will happen.

At Horcoff's current salary structure he won't have any value (short of him turning into a 100 point scorer) until three seasons after this one. While he'll remain a 5.5 million dollar cap hit he will be paid only 4 and 2 million dollars the last two seasons. Any of the half dozen or so teams looking to hit the cap floor will be able to attain that with a guy being paid under his cap hit.

Till then, enjoy. And I hope he is just fighting an injury and next season he returns to the form he showed in '06 and '08.

Hey Hemskyfanboy, how about we keep Gagner, the kids only 20 FCS. I'm pretty sure if we stop chasing the golden dragon in the off-season we could make an effort to sign a UFA def. d-man. If anything we're the ones trading our vet def. d-man in Staois, and the other vets in Moreau and Souray, NOT our future with Gagner and Hemsky. As for the OP, I say no to the trade, too many good Horcoff jokes around here.

It will be some form of Relative Corsi adjusted for on-ice save percentage, and Qualcomp.
