Andy Murray Fired

http://blues.nhl.com/club/news.htm?i...id=DL|STL|home

“I would like to thank Andy Murray for the job he has done here the past four seasons,” continued Davidson. “He was an intergral part in turning the St. Louis Blues around. He is a true professional and I wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Overdue to be sure... the right move for the Blues.

Surprise, surprise. We all knew it would happen, and how it would happen.

Didn't the management just recently come out and told the players that AM wasn't going to get fired?

Good luck Andy!

Hell, I'd say Dallas could use him. Crawford sucks.

MC does suck and frankly I was very surprised to see him replace Tippet.

As for AM, he's only good for a season or so. After that the team begins to tune him out unfortunately.

AM would in my opinion be a better assistant NHL coach, or a coach for short tournaments like WJC, under 18, even Europe where the seasons are shorter

This or he should coach at the college or Junior level.

Ouch, read Cam Janssen's quotes....Same old story with Murray....the enforcers and young players dislike him and the role players, washed up NHL'ers or AHL vets like him.

It was inevitable. This actually hurts us because the Blues are going to utilize their youth now.

Yep. Lee Stempniak, Bj Crombeen and Mike Weaver were his personal favorites there.

I think we can hope that the Ducks fire Carlyle and hire Murray. That's be classic.

That's usually the kiss of death for a coach of a struggling underachiving team,

Andy has the potential to be a great NHL coach. But some things have to change. I hope it does and I hope he becomes exactly that. He is a gentlemen, gracious and kind. Good things should happen for him.

... Andy is a great guy personally, humble and gracious. I never thought much of him as a head coach, but the fact of the matter is that he's solidly in the established fraternity of NHL coaches and someone WILL hire him again.

He wasn't really given much to work with in that department, unless we're all hung up on Noah Clarke.

I think AM compares to Jon Gruden and Tom Coughlin in the NFL. Gruden seems to have an instant impact his first season then his teams stop listening. Coughlin was a dictator, then he lost the players and loosened up. The result was a championship in 2007. There's no doubt AM knows what he's doing and now there is no doubt he needs to change how he treats his players. His use of Paul Kariya this season is a disgrace. Check out his minutes, do any of you think Paul Kariya is a checking line winger? And I beleive the other night he healthy scratched Erik Johnson. That would be like TM scratching Doughty. Look, these guys are going to have bad games, you cannot sit franchise players to try to play mind games. It doesn't work. It's really too bad AM can't take a step back and realize hockey players have very different personalities. One guy may get motivated by being yelled at. Another may go into a shell. To just treat every player the same regardless of skill and reward hard working players with no skill proves that Andy Murray's system does not work in todays NHL. If he was coaching the CCCP he would be great.

Brad Richardson says Hello ... (yeah I know he's had a great December, but to think he's better than Derek Armstrong was ? seriously ?)

Just stirrin' the pot as mostly I agree with what you said
Anyways, best of luck Andy ... I talked with him a couple times at Health South (TSC now) and as others have said, personally he's a very good person.
