Weaver has really looked like crap the last couple games. That play was just horrid.

Unorganized. Fatigued.

The poor goaltending is probably a result of those two things. A few of these goals we can't blame on Conklin... especially the odd man breaks... but a few of them conklin should have had. The unorganization has also hurt so far... which is somewhat to be expected when you've got a coach with a pretty dissimilar system taking over.

I'm pretty impressed with the effort through the first two periods, but we're just not conditioned to play this up and down game right now, and it's showing in this third period.

All of these things can be fixed though. This game has been a lot closer than the score has indicated.

Vital signs are stabilizing.

Have to go back to the drawing board after this one. Get organized, play a smarter game next time out. Agree that up and down hockey does not suit us at this time.

Am I the only one that sees this game as a big step forward? Everyone seems so negative right now...

Chicago has looked good the past few seasons, getting closer and closer every year but this year the hawks have looked really good (like Detroit or Pittsburgh the past few yrs). They def have a good chance!

I hope Walt's OK, man that had to hurt. This team is just not that good. Jackman and Weaver were atrocious again and that was the worst game ive ever seen McClement play. This Blues team has to be the worst team finishing around the net. Loose pucks all night and noone can put one in.

I thought we looked more high tempo, but just unfortunately had some bad defensive breakdowns and absolutely no luck, with exception to a double-edged sword of Tkachuk scoring a goal off his face.

Really looking forward to seeing more tempo and hopefully better conditioning over the next few weeks.

Yeah, I think this loss should have been expected. It seemed like the Blues wanted to run at 110% the entire game, but couldn't sustain the high level of play. Once the emotion of having a new coach wears off, there's a system you have to play and there was simply a lot of confusion and missed assignments in the 2nd.

I think it will take about 10 games for the players to adjust to the system Payne implements. After that, we'll see where we stand.

Well nice game

I was one of the fans that overreacted after Sharp hit.

There was a little too much rough stuff and I didn't like Janssen's actions in the 3rd but aside from that it was a good hockey game.

Conklin had an off night and Kopecky is never this good. Just one of those games

You guys will get better now that you have rid yourselves of Murray and your defense/goaltending is good enough that I expect you guys to turn things around rather quickly

Any news on Tkachuk?

Systems have nothing to do with getting owned on the boards, directing the puck into your own net, and turning the puck over creating 2 on ones. It may help the powerplay, but i doubt it. The personal is just overrated.

By that logic the only coach we need is a PP specialist.

Hey guys, is there any word locally there in St. Louis about the extent of Tkachuk's injuries? That looked pretty bad. Hopefully he's alright and it's nothing too serious.

I agree, Conklin was really fighting it, giving up a lot of rebounds and generally looked really nervous. I'm not sure it made the difference in the game, but I'd have liked to see what the Blues could have done if they'd gotten a lead.

However, the 7 minute PP with 2 minutes 5 on 3 should have tallied a couple goals. That hurt, and was a good example of someplace Payne should be able to help.

Weaver's big hit was awesome. I watched NHL On the Fly and they left it out of the highlights, inexplicably. It was the best play of the game.

I hope Tkachuk is OK. Anyone hear an update on his condition? That looked pretty painful.

Kind of nice continuity to have Armstrong up here when he's familiar with Payne's systems and can help implement the changes. Not sure it makes a huge difference, but a nice situation.

Also nice that the Blues have a lull for a few days before the next game.

For some reason it wouldn't surprise me if TK says he has had enough after this.

That was wicked to see Tkachuk take the shot off his face.

The difference between us and a lot of teams this season is we can't bury the puck when we get chances. We had some great chances tonight that we couldn't put away and the Hawks did. Goaltending has been a weakness recently.

Ugh, sucks for him. I was hoping it was just a busted lip or something, but I knew right when it happened that it was going to be a pretty gnarly injury.

The Blues got really sloppy in this game, but I liked the more upbeat tempo and gritty play. Hopefully the team gets comfortable with this new style as time goes by.

I have a suggestion for new coach D-Pain: tomorrow, just work on shooting and HITTING THE ****ING NET. It is beyond ridiculous that professionals who are paid for their ability to score shoot the puck several wide of the net on a regular basis. Sure it looks pretty when they do score, but when they dont, and most of the time they dont, they just look awful. Perron, Boyes, Oshie, etc. missing shots are killing us. Im not even sure Polak looks when he shoots.
